Rift Nightblade Guide For Rogues

In the game of Rift, rogues can play many roles, but the most prominent one is dealing damage. Possibly the most directly linked rogue soul to dealing damage that a rogue can choose is Nightblade. Nightblades specialize most in dealing direct damage, melee pure DPS, and are especially effective in 1-on-1 combat when used correctly (Especially more so against warriors and clerics in particular). Nightblade rogues use offensive attacks, abilities, and spells that use death and fire damage primarily, instead of poison or regular damage. One thing that they lack though, is good crowd control abilities. This lack of control is balanced out by the ability to deal massive amounts of damage, and can be somewhat fixed with the correct use of talents.

In this guide I will be covering some optimal builds, secondary soul specs, and rotations for specific abilities to use while in combat.

That being said, let's look at some of the best Nightblade builds:

  • For a build that will maximize PVE damage, but lack a bit of utility, try putting 43 into Nightblade, 17 into Assassin, and 6 into Bladedancer. Use this if you will be most focused on PVE content and won't have to get your Nightblade crafty in a lot of PvP activity.
  • Similar to the previous build - built for direct damage dealing. However, this focuses more on Bladedancer perks, such as hit rate and auto-attack damage. Using this build as compared to the first build will depend on your gear and play style. Put 43 into Nightblade, 19 into Bladedancer, and 4 into Assassin.
  • Combing Nightblade with Riftstalker is an effective and popular build for utility and PvP. This rogue build gives more mobility and survivability, and is ideal for leveling and PVP. Put 34 into Nightblade and 32 into Riftstalker.

Secondary Souls

  • The most used and possible best trust secondary soul tree for a Nightblade guide is the Assassin tree. It will provide standard excellent benefits, such as crit rate, crit damage, DoT's on crits, and a dmg buff on crits.
  • The next most widely applicable tree would be the Bladedancer tree, increasing offensive ability with perks like a auto attack dmg buff, dexterity buffs, and hit rate.
  • If you're the type that wants the utility and survivability, or just plan on engaging a lot in PvP, you may want to look at the Riftstalker build.
  • Also, you can try speccing into Ranger, but you'll most definitely have to spec in the Assassin with it to get the bleed to accompany the build.

If you want to learn the specifics on these secondary soul options, you can find more information for leveling your rogue in a Rift leveling guide.

Rotation for fighting when starting in stealth:

First, Dark Malady- -> Then Twilight Force- ->-Fiery Spike- ->-Fiery Spike- -> -Scourge of Darkness-

After that, keep using abilities in this priority order:

  1. -Scourge of Darkness-
  2. -Fiery Spike-
  3. -Dusk Strike-
  4. -Twilight Force-
  5. -Primal Strike-

Rotation for fighting enemies when starting at range:

First, Twilight force- -> Then Fiery Spike- ->-Dusk Strike- ->-Scourge of Darkness-

After that, keep fighting with the same method as the priority list above.

If you're fighting multiple mobs, you should use Fiery Chains as much as you can and then use Weapon Flare over and over. However, if fighting a large group, like more than 4, you might be best off just using Weapon Flare.

I've covered as much as I can in brief here. If you're seeking more specifics on leveling you Rogue Nightblade, you can look for more information in a Rift leveling guide.

Good luck leveling up your Rogue and getting your hands dirty with the Nightblade soul. I hope this short guide will help you start your Rogue Nightblade in the right direction. Do some damage!
