This ear force x42 headset review has been written so as to help you to make up your mind as to whether or not to invest your hard earned cash in a set of these Turtle Beach produced gaming headsets. After trying them out I am sure you will be very impressed with their performance. Upon unpacking the Ear Force X42 headset I was very impressed with the color scheme (black and green) and very similar to the previous x41 model. The black case does not show finger prints that can be left by sticky fingers after a late night snack and has an attractive green on light that matches the color scheme.
The gaming headset comes with Dolby surround sound which gives 360 degree sound and a dual-band Wifi radio that helps eliminate the interference that you may have experienced with the previous version. Also the ear pieces are much more comfortable than the previous models as around the ear pieces they have a higher quality mesh that is not rough and does not sweat the same as the previous models did. The head piece has a better cushion were it tends to rest on your head and overall is much more comfortable and is adjustable
The Ear Force X42 surround sound processor seems to give your gaming experience an immersive 3-dimensional feeling and another added feature is the range that it will operate at compared to the x41 and when it comes to the end of its range it just fades out with no more crackling or distorted, fuzzy noises.
Setting up your headset is relatively easy if you have an up to date HDTV.
It comes complete with a digital optical cable which allows you to connect your transmitter to the TV along with a USB connector for your system. You will have to order an A/V cable dongle from Turtle Beach if you have an older TV which can be a problem if you are not aware of this fact when you purchase you Ear Force X42 Headset. If for some reason you find you are out of sync with the game then there is a sync button on the head set but it should doe this automatically
A big advantage with this latest model of the Turtle Beach Ear Force X42 gaming headset in my opinion is the much improved battery life of approximately 25% using the batteries that are supplied with the headset and also you get a warning beep when the batteries are getting low instead of the screeching sound from the previous model.
I hope you have found this review on the Ear Force X42 Headset has enlightened you on a few of the improvements over previous models and helped you to make up your mind on buying it.
