With Blizzard's latest expansion Cataclysm, they have turned their ever popular World of Warcraft franchise upside down. Everything has changed and nothing will ever be the same. There are countless new additions, enough to consider this expansion World of Warcraft II. With all of these changes Blizzard added two new races, Worgen and Goblins. Today I'm going to introduce you to the Horde's new race, the mischievous Goblins!
The Goblins are one of two new playable races that were introduced to the World of Warcraft by Blizzard with the new Cataclysm Expansion. The goblins were originally slaves to the trolls on the isle of Kezan. They were forced into mining in the volcanic mountain named Mount Kajaro. Little did the trolls know however that the goblins were seamlessly scheming to end their enslavement. They mines that they had been forced to tunnel became their home, Undermine. Undermine is a maze of complex mine shafts, tunnels, vaults, and best of all, lava. Undermine is run by numerous Trade Princes that rule of everything. These Trade Princes have become uneasy with the Alliance's unexpectedness. To get back at what they see as an unprofitable mistake the Trade Princes have reformed old alliances with the Horde and they were welcomed with open arms. The once neutral race is now pitted against the Alliance in Azeroth's ongoing war between the two warring factions.
Goblin players will be able to chose from numerous classes that have been offered to this race. These include Hunter, Priest, Shaman, Rogue, Mage, Warlock, Warrior, and the ever fearful Death Knight!
The race gets a number of useful Racial Abilities:
1. Rocket Jump: Activates your Rocket Belt to jump forward.
2. Rocket Barrage: Launches your belt rockets and an enemy.
3. Time is Money: Players gain a 1% increase to attack and casting speed.
4. Best Deals Anywhere: Always receive the best discount regardless of faction standing.
5. Pack Hobgoblin: Calls in your personal servant, allowing you bank access for 1min.
6. Better Living Through Chemistry: Alchemy skill increased by 15.
When you first make a goblin character you'll start on the Island of Kezan where you go through the last days of the islands before the great Second Sundering! You save the goblins from extinction only to have your ship sink along its journey. Found floating on a plank, a goblin revives you with famous Jumper Cables - we all know about those, right!? As you make it to land you begin your journey fighting with the Horde against the greedy Alliance!
Blizzard has done a great job of moving away from the "collect X of this" and "kill y of that" quests, but they still exists. You will hardly notice them however, thanks to Blizzard's artfully crafted story line that pits you in the middle of adventure from the second you start. Playing this race offered a lot of fun, especially zipping around Kezan on my mount!
I have compiled a complete guide to the Goblin starting area at my website. There you will also find a multitude of guides on the Worgen Starting Area, Blizzard's Cataclysm Expansion, Power Leveling, Gold Grinding, Questing, Dungeon Strategies, and much, much more!
