I definitely go through phases of playing one iOS game and sticking to just that one. My current fave is Wooords, which sounds ridiculously basic but ends up being hugely addictive. You get given a set of letters (which look like the kind you'd put on a fridge door) and have to spell as many words as possible. The only requirements being that they must all include the special letter and be at least four letters long. Trying to get three stars on every level can take a long time, but I refuse to move on until that's achieved. Not since Cover Orange has an iOS game proved to be so addictive.
By now you're probably either sick of hearing about Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3, or else so excited that you're on the verge of slipping into some form of gibbering, sub-human state. So far my Apathy Cloak has ensured that I remained lodged between these two extremes, but earlier this week I finally got to play the PS3 build of Battlefield 3- an event that more or less forced me to pick a side.
In short, it's looking pretty decent, but as I said in my preview, I'm slightly worried about how the console versions are going to turn out. Aside from the leaked YouTube footage, the 360 build has been AWOL, and the latest PS3 sequence was far glitchier than what I'd expect from a demo so late in the development cycle. In six week's time the game will be on shop shelves, and final code should be in our hands even before then. Does DICE have enough time to finish the game before then? I certainly hope so, and we won't have to wait long to find out.
I'm still playing Terraria. I'm playing Terraria so often it's overtaken Civ V as my most played game on Steam. For every hour I spent dragging Ghandi's name into the mud and establishing a new German reign over India, I've dug holes in the ground and his zombies with sticks for twice as long. The beauty of Terraria is that it's largely exploration based, which means in the middle of cutting down trees to use as crafting material I'm continuously finding new areas filled with giant f**king skeleton heads. Brilliant game.
