Remember when the level cap was 60? When you got to endgame there was a lack of content which allowed you to create and max other characters? I have many friends that would often gloat about their level 60 Druid, level 60 Warrior, level 60 Rogue, so on and so forth. With the world of Azeroth expanding, so has the level cap. This is made it much harder for players to max out each and every character they create. Now a days it is a very time consuming endeavor to accomplish this beast of a task.
To make this once tedious task easier, blizzard, the creators of the World of Warcraft have made several much needed additions to their Wrath of the Lich king Expansion. With this expansion came new items that were called Bind to Account items, this was new from the normal Bind on Equip or Bind on Pickup items. These were items that because specific to the user's account. Blizzard called these items 'Heirlooms'. There were a few requirements to acquire these items, but once you did they made leveling up new characters an ease. One of the requirements was that the account holder had to have at least one character at level 80.
Once a person was able to obtain Heirlooms however, they gained some amazing benefits. They gained some great power and some much needed extra experience. The first goal of these BtA items were to scale one's level. This was so when you gained levels the Heirloom stats would increase with you as well. The huge benefit to this was that many players got to forgo the task of keeping their gear current. Why waste time with that?? We just want to level! This allows players to quests faster than ever before while not having to worry about whether or not they'll have the stats to be powerful enough to steam roll through content.
These Heirlooms came with an additional benefit that many power levelers will very much enjoy. This was an increase to exp earned after turning in quests and killing mobs. The increase was as much as 10% per heirloom item! That's insane! That means that if an individual has 4 heirloom items equipped they'll get an added exp bonus of 40%! Because of this, this bonus was definitely the most important aspect of Heirloom items. But how do you get these heirlooms? Certainly it can't be that easy, right? Not for something this powerful???
