Asura’s Wrath Review

I attended the 2011 San Diego Comic Con and was able to play a demo of the upcoming game Asura’s Wrath. It is a game being developed by Capcom. This game seemed pretty similar to God of War as far as the battles go. You start the game as Asura, who use to be a Demi-God but who’s daughter was taken captive by seven deities. As the game goes on Asura keeps finding out more info from the battle and gets enraged.

At the start of the demo of Asura’s Wrath you come in contact with a Large being, that seemed to be one of the seven deities. After some discussion, you find out the he is a deity named Wyzen. Once you begin fighting with Wyzen you have a couple different attacked with things you can shoot at him or use a melee attack. Once you have defeated him, he comes back in an even larger form and enrages Asura even further and you grow four extra arms.

The fight then resumes on a bigger battle field in the open with some missiles being shot at you. You have to press a certain button to counter the attack and you bounce the missiles back at Wyzen. Wyzen then has a golden ship come that shoots even more missiles at you, which again you have to bounce back. After you hit it with enough missiles, it is destroyed and the fight with Wyzen goes on even longer.

There are several different cinemas during all this time and I really ended up just watching the screen throughout most of the demo(wasn’t that exciting). Eventually you push Wyzen into space. Then Wyzen becomes angry and turns into an even bigger giant, plant like creature. He used his giant finger to try and crush you and end this fight. Asura then focuses all his power into fending off Wyzen and you are forced to mash a lot of buttons and finally push Wyzen back. Then we defeat Wyzen with a punch to his finger that takes out the rest of his body.

I would say the demo had too many cinemas and just watching the screen for a while with not much going on wasn’t that interesting to me. It did have some pretty good graphics though. Overall I wouls say the demo of this game didn’t get me too excited for the game though. It seemed a lot like God of War but not nearly as good. And I’m not even a huge fan of the God of War games. I am much more excited for the Ps3 RpgDark Souls that is coming out in a couple of months, especially with the collector’s edition coming with a Dark Souls guidesince the game is expected to be so hard.
