Will Ebook Apps replace Actual books?- BookFest@Malaysia



BookFest@Malaysia has been a long running event which groups writers, publishers and readers from all around the world to gather and sell, promote and exchange their latest creations. Bookfest Malaysia started off in Malaysia in the year 2006. The event saw to 320,000 visitors on it first opeing. Since then, it has been rising steadily each year. This year it will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre KLCC from 27 August to 4th September 2011

The Bookfest is anti[censored] ted to have more than 600 booths to allow hundreds of books, stationery retailers/distributors and publishers to be present and showcase their products. This event is co-organised with Sin Chew Media Corporation, and will be recognised as the largest book exhibition being held in the region.



Books have been around for ages. The physical book is made available in different sizes and shapes. Carrying a book around may not be the best for this new age and generation. A physical book can be bulky and not kind to people who love to read and has to carry it to go to work. Why is this so? Carrying an extra book is an extra load to them, on top of their do[censored] ents, notebook and other work essential accessories which they have to bring to work. Today, what we should be looking for are not paperback books or hardcovers.

We should be looking at something extremely thin ebook reading devices or mobile internet device and yet can contain hundreds of pages. Yes! Books are now available electronically and over the internet. It is known as an Ebook. This concept is being widely introduced through iPad and various ebook reader platforms. Just to name a few, we have the Galaxy Tab, HTC Flyer, Hanvon reader and Motorola Xoom. If you do not have one of these, freight not, you can always get it on your Smartphones as well. And where do we get these books from? That is simple, you can just download over the Internet through iStores like the Itunestores, Amazon, Sony eReaderstore and Aidubooks.

It has been written in not just in English version, it also available in the six different languages as well. Books in application form can be easily translated and transformed into various languages and designs as well. We do hope that the Bookfest will be heading towards the direction of promoting New device for reading ebooks and emagazines to be available on such platforms as well.
