Information Concerning Starcraft 2 Raven Tactics

The Terran unit known as the Raven is an interesting support aircraft. It is a versatile craft that can help protect your base or support your troops while they are engaged in battle with the enemy. The other benefits it has consist of giving you mobile stealth detection, missile interception, and additional fire support.

Various Terran players will say that this is one of the most powerful units that you can have, so protect it as much as you can and use it as wisely as possible. It has the abilities of the following: Auto Turret, Hunter Seek Missile (HSM) once researched, and Point Defense Drone (PDD).

The downside of this unit is that it costs two hundred gas and one hundred minerals for a single unit, and it requires a starport with an attached tech lab to produce this unit.

If you are going for a M[censored] Raven strategy, be prepared to face some difficulties and listen to this advice. With PDD, many enemy ranged projectiles can be intercepted and destro[censored] without harming your units. If you throw in a few well-placed Auto Turrets, you can inflict quite a bit of damage on your opponent as well. Zerg in particular has trouble dealing with PDDs as many of their ranged attacks can be intercepted.

If you are thinking about massing the Ravens mid-game, be prepared for there could be many risks involved. It is a difficult thing to do because you have to secure a second and a third expansion very quickly and this can be hard if you are not used to multi-tasking in this game. These extra bases are necessary so that you can increase production.

The crucial thing to remember of course is that the Ravens are rather weak physically. They are fragile and you must protect them as much as you can. Remember that the hotkey for the auto-turret is T and each turret expires in 180 seconds. For the seeker missile, it's R and for the Drone, it's D. Use these abilities wisely.

These units are perfect for protecting yourself against cloaked units such as the Dark Templar. However, each unit costs a great deal of gas which limits their viability. One could also use them along with a defensive Viking early in the game when facing cloaked Banshees. These are also good when you are up against early Marauder pushes as PDDs intercept their projectiles. As an aircraft they can also provide vision of the high ground which is sometimes vital.

However as previously stated, since they rely on gas, their production is usually limited because gas is such an important resource for other advanced Terran units. They can still provide permanent detection over a scan though which sometimes makes having a couple of them on the field worth it. With a Raven amongst your army they can defend properly against burrowed Banelings, Roaches, and Infestors that would otherwise ambush your forces.

As you can see, there are plenty of Terran Raven tactics for you to use. Be responsible with them and remember what you have learned.
