Several Good Starcraft 2 Medivac Tactics

Some of the tactics that are most useful when playing Terran are the Medivac tactics. The unit offers great support especially in healing biological units that are in its range. It also plays the role of a drop-ship that is used to transport different types of units across the battlefield. The unit is helpful to the amateur or expert. The healing ability is automatically used on damaged infantry units in the vicinity. Auto casting healing ability helps to auto heal any unit that is damaged within the the range of the Medivac.

The unit is produced from the starport. Building it requires some resources such as a hundred minerals and one hundred Vespene gas. The survival of your infantry units depends greatly on the Medivac. This unit is more applicable when one is building more infantry; a good example is marines and marauders. The unit is more so helpful when the infantry apply Stimpacks since the Medivac is capable of healing the damage caused by this ability.

When using the Medivac for drops it is advisable to avoid anti air units as this unit is relatively fragile. You also need to get gas income as well as an engineering bay for infantry upgrades. Make sure you pump out infantry to use in conjunction with this unit. When loading units into a Medivac select your units and right click the Medivacs to load it up. This makes it faster than doing it vice versa.

When handling infantry tech upgrades you need to know that it is possible to get concussive s[censored] or combat shields before Stim (to be precise the decision is left at your own discretion). However, you need to take caution and choose your first upgrades wisely.

While playing as a bio Terran you should get more Medivacs so long as you can afford gas-wise. Remember the reason for having these units is to protect your army and enhance the biological healing ability. It is therefore sometimes better to have a smaller army that is virtually immortal than a very large one that is fragile and easy to kill.

Having more Medivacs also makes it easier to do drops since they can bring more infantry with its transport feature. A large number of them are of great importance since they can be used to load sufficient infantry or even Terran Mech units into its hold as well as planting them anywhere on the map.

Drops are done by depositing the Terran forces right in the heart your enemies territory. This is a good way to surprise your opponent while attacking and destroying his or her base from within. This tactic is always viable unless the opponent has copious amounts of anti air defenses all throughout their bases. The Medivacs can also be used to retreat your units from the battle if the skirmish starts heading in the opponent's favor. This is because the Medivacs are fast and can be used to outrun units by crossing terrain such as cliffs.

Dropping multiple siege tanks on a cliff near the enemy's base is another tactic worth considering. The siege tanks are capable of destroying anything that is at range especially when they are deplo[censored] into siege mode.
