Paralogue 1: Sickle to Sword Guide

Important Unlocks:

• Character Unlock: Donnel joins your squad if you can level him up during the mission.
• Item Unlock: A Killer Lance can be taken from a chest. A theif may steal it before you get there. Kill the theif to retrieve it.
• Item Unlock: A theif is holding an Iron Sword on the south part of the map. Kill him to take it from him.
• Item Unlock: A chest has a Rescue Spell. Kill an enemy by the chest to get the key.

The most important thing to take away from this side quest is Donnel. You can only recruit this character if he levels up during the mission. He doesn’t do very much damage and doesn’t have very good damage so you will have to weaken an enemy before sending Donnel in. You can also pair him up with someone strong to give him a huge boost in stats. Just be very careful, because some of the enemies in this area attack with a throwing ax. This means they can attack from a couple of squares away including over walls.

Your characters will start on the bottom right of the battlefield. Take the section super slow and make sure to grab all of the chests you can. I found it best to work my way around the battlefield in a clockwise circle. Try to whittle down enemies with some of your weaker characters so Donnel can finish them off. If the thief steals the Killer Lance cut him off with Fredrick. The Thief will head towards the bottom of the map.

Finish off the rest of the enemies methodically. Make your way to the boss of the level and use either Fredrick or another heavy character that you have. When you beat the boss the level will be over. Congratulation on a new weapon and a new character for beating this side quest in Fire Emblem: Awakening!
