In case you need help with completing this subclass quests, here is what you need to know and how you can quickly finish them up.
Begin this quest by visiting Zavala, the Titan Vanguard that can be found in the Hall of Guardians. You need to ensure that you’re using the Defender subclass, and then you can accept and start working on the quest. If you switch from your Striker to Defender while at the Tower, you’ll need to head to Orbit and then come back to see the quest.
Slay Enemies: This is done when you defeat 50 enemies within your Ward of Dawn or using your grenade and melee attack. Right off the bat you can forget about the part regarding the Ward of Dawn, as this is just too finicky to really be reliable. Just focus on your melee and your grenade, which should get you through this in no time at all. We suggest just spawning into the patrol on Earth, which will put you at the Steppes. From here you can just run around and farm the kills. Of course, there are lots of places to do this, so choose whatever area works best for you.
Create Orbs of Light: Orbs is a very general amount, but what the game means is generate 25 Orbs using your Ward of Dawn. This is no different than the task of generating Orbs for the Bladedancer and Gunslinger, so just find a Fireteam and start chaining super abilities together. What we mean by that is to have your pals use their supers and generate Orbs, then pick them up so you can super. If you do this right you should be able to constantly feed off each other until this step is complete.
Complete the Path: For this step you need to fully upgrade the Defender subclass, which you should have done already. If you haven’t, it’s just a matter of earning the XP required. You can do this in any of the game’s story missions that you haven’t completed, or by knocking off Vanguard and Crucible bounties each day. It’s really up to you, but if you need help you can read about how to earn more XP in Destiny: The Taken King.
Zavala’s Challenge: This one is a little different, but it’s pretty easy. You need to complete a Strike, Ward your Fireteam with Blessing or Weapons of Light and score 30 kills across your team. What this means is that you need to have either Blessing of Light or Weapons of Light on your super, and you should go for the latter in this case. Once you pop that bubble, have your Fireteam walk through it, and then score 30 kills. If your Fireteam racks up 30 kills before the end of the Strike while under the influence of Weapons of Light or Blessing of Light, you’re done.
Reward: Your reward for all of this hard work will be the Defender’s Mark, a pretty slick looking piece of gear that is exclusive to Destiny: The Taken King. Just remember, if you’re reading this before September 15, 2015, don’t complete the quest until The Taken King is released, otherwise you might miss out on your prize.
Just like all matters that have to do with the Titan and the Vanguard, you need to visit Zavala in the Hall of Guardians. That’s the person who will give you the quest if you’re currently using your Striker subclass. Once you have it, here is what you need to do.
Slay Enemies: To do this you need to defeat 50 enemies with your Fist of Havoc, grenade or melee attack. You can use your super ability (Fist of Havoc) for some of this, but your primary means of getting kills will be with your grenade and melee. If you’re not sure where to bang this one out, it doesn’t matter. We just spawned into the Steppes on an Earth patrol and roamed around. Anywhere that you can find low level enemies will do just fine.
Create Orbs of Light: To complete this you need to generate 25 Orbs using your Fist of Havoc. It’s really not that bad. Just try to do this one with a Fireteam, picking up each other’s Orbs so that you’re constantly using your super ability. In terms of where to do this, the Mothyards on Earth isn’t bad, and neither is the Anchor of Light on the Moon. It really doesn’t matter, as long as there are lots of things to kill and they respawn very quickly.
Complete the Path: This part requires that you fully upgrade the Striker subclass, which most veterans will have done already. If you haven’t, it’s just about earning XP as quickly as you can. Make sure to knock off any Vanguard or Crucible bounties that are out there, and finish up any story missions that you have yet to complete. You also get XP for kills, but not enough to make it a reasonable way to fully upgrade the subclass.
Zavala’s Challenge: This is easily the hardest part, and players will have to complete a Strike using the Fist of Havoc to generate 7 Orbs in a single blow, three times. It’s not fun, and you’ll need three really good Fist of Havoc uses to pull it off. Our advice is to either try this on the Devil’s Lair, in the room where the Hive and Fallen are fighting each other. If you can’t get it done there, consider using the Nexus, just before you reach the final boss and you find that pathway full of Vex Goblins. Smash them with your Fist of Havoc, and then have your Fireteam wipe and repeat the process. That should do the trick.
Reward: Your reward for completing this subclass quest will be the Striker’s Mark, which looks pretty good, as do all of the subclass rewards. Just keep in mind, completing this quest line before September 15, 2015 could result in you not getting your prize, and that would be a shame.
