Start by visiting Ikora Rey, the Warlock Vanguard that can be found in the Hall of Guardians. She will have this quest for you if you arrive at the Tower equipped with your Voidwalker subclass. If you have the Sunsinger or Stormcaller subclasses currently in use, you’ll have to change, leave the Tower, and then return. Switching subclasses while at the Tower will not make this quest pop up.
Slay Enemies: As with all of the subclass quests, the first part will require that you defeat 50 enemies with your Nova Bomb, grenade or melee attack. It’s pretty easy stuff, but might take you a few minutes depending on how quickly your grenade, melee and super ability recharge. Our suggestion is to just let this happen naturally, but if you’re looking to farm kills, try the Steppes on Earth. This is the default area that you spawn into, and there are a few groups of low level Fallen to mess around with.
Create Orbs of Light: This one falls under the tedious heading, as you have to generate 25 Orbs using your Nova Bomb. This means killing enemies with your super ability, which is easy enough. The hard part is getting your super recharged fast enough to bang this one out. For this, get a Fireteam of three and have each member focus on using their super. As your friends generate Orbs, pick them up and use them to get your super, and then use it to generate Orbs for them. This should result in you feeding each other Orbs and having your super charged up almost all of the time.
Complete the Path: You need to fully upgrade your Voidwalker subclass, which you likely have already done if you’re a veteran of the game. If not, this requires that you have the subclass equipped, and that you earn a truck load of XP. There’s aren’t any shortcuts here, just find ways to gain experience. The Vanguard bounties will help, as will those for the Crucible. You can also visit the links at the top of this article to try and speed things up a bit.
Ikora’s Challenge: For this you need to complete a Strike using Nova Bomb to generate 7 Orbs in a single blast three times. It’s not particularly hard, but at the same time it’s pretty easy to miss. We would suggest that you do this with a Fireteam you can communicate with, having your friends hold off on killing large groups of enemies so that you can get your super off. The Devil’s Lair is one option, but so is the path just before the Nexus boss fight, where all the Vex Goblins are huddled up on the cliff. Just wipe and repeat to get all three.
Reward: Your prize for all of this work will be the Voidwalker’s Bond, which is pretty slick looking. It’s also a level 40, giving you 220 defense right out of the gate. Just be sure not to finish this quest until The Taken King drops, otherwise you might not get the reward at all. That would be a shame.
You can get this quest by visiting Ikora Rey, the Warlock Vanguard in the Hall of Guardians. If you arrive at the Tower with your Sunsinger subclass equipped, you should see this. If you switch while at the Tower, you’ll have to leave and come back. Additionally, do not complete this quest until September 15, 2015, or else you may not get your reward.
Slay Enemies: You need to defeat 50 enemies with your Radiance, grenade or melee attack. This should be pretty simple, as Radiance will allow you to spam grenades for about 10 seconds. These powerful balls of fire should cook anything in your path. If you want an easy place to farm some kills, try the Anchor of Light on the Moon. There are normally a bunch of Fallen kicking around there, and they respawn rather quickly.
Create Orbs of Light: You’ll need to generate 25 Orbs using your Radiance for this one, which isn’t too bad given how many Orbs this super tends to kick up. Just try to find low level enemies that will die to one grenade, and then focus on the pile of them. The Dark Beyond is a good mission for this, right at the part where Nolan-Bot whispers, “We’ve woken the Hive.” If you’re having trouble getting your super as quickly as you’d like, bring two friends and keep generating Orbs for each other, constantly chaining your supers together.
Complete the Path: You may already have this done, but if you don’t you’ll need to fully upgrade the Sunsinger subclass. This is just all about earning XP while you have the subclass equipped. Finish up any story missions you might have, and make sure to complete the Vanguard and Crucible bounties each day. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts here.
Ikora’s Challenge: You’ll need to complete a Strike and kill 20 enemies while surrounded by Radiance. Again, this should be no trouble at all, as the Radiance super ability is quite powerful. Just pop your Radiance in the room where the Fallen and Hive are fighting on the Devil’s Lair. You could almost rack up 15 kills in one super use, if you time it correctly. If you need to use two or three, that shouldn’t be any problem either. Just let your Fireteam know what you’re doing so they can support you… by not killing everything before you have a chance to set it on fire.
Reward: The reward for this quest is the Sunsinger’s Bond, a level 40 class item that will start off with 220 defense. Until you have something better, you should absolutely be wearing this. Just as a final warning (about our 10th one), don’t complete this quest until The Taken King drops or you could miss out on the reward.
Because this quest is strictly part of The Taken King DLC, where as the two we spoke of earlier in this article are simply Year 2 quests, we've given this one its own article. Read about how you can Unlock the Warlock's Stormcaller Subclass.
