Fallout 4: Dangerous Minds - How to Find Goodneighbor

This guide will walk you through the main quest, Dangerous Minds, in Fallout 4. During this quest, players will have to visit with Dr. Amari at Goodneighbor, and explore Kellogg’s memories to find a way to reach the Institute. There won’t be any action during this quest (unless you get into it on the way to or from the starting point), but it does help to further the Fallout 4 plot quite nicely.

Retrieve a Piece of Kellogg’s Brain

This is something that you should have done back when you were playing through the Reunions quest that you completed before this one. After you killed Kellogg, looting his body would give you the Cybernetic Brain Augmenter, which is what Dr. Amari will require to begin the procedure. Visit our guide for Fallout 4: Reunions if you don’t already have that.

Talk to Dr. Amari

Chat with Dr. Amari and have Nick Valentine sit in the chair and try to access Kellogg’s memories. This won’t work, and you’ll have to step in. We knew it was too good to be true. There was no way were getting through this mission that easily.

Sit in the Memory Lounger

Sit in the memory lounger and Dr. Amari will begin the procedure automatically. There’s nothing to this part.

Explore Kellogg’s Memories

This part can be long, but it’s not at all difficult. You’ll start in what looks like a brain, with brain wave like things connecting to various memories in Kellogg’s mind. There is only one way to go, so you can just walk from one memory to the other, listening to the events of each memory unfold. You can choose to approach the subjects of each memory and choose Access Memory, getting some insight into what Kellogg was like. We highly suggest that you do this, since it gives the man you killed a bit of a personality. We actually felt kind of sorry for him for a minute… until we recalled that he killed our partner and stole out child.

The final two memories are the ones you really want to pay attention to. One is the opening sequence from Vault 111 and War Never Changes. The second is from Kellogg’s apartment in Diamond City, with Shaun sitting there with him. This will be where you find out how you can get to the Institute, and where you can exit the memory lounger and get back to reality.

Tip: We got stuck in an Access Memory sequence, which we fixed by simply backtracking to the previous memory, and then returning to the one we were trying to complete.

In order to finish with the memory lounger, players must wait until the memory with Shaun and Kellogg in their Diamond City apartment. From here, interact with the television and you’ll be sent back to the room with Nick Valentine and Dr. Amari.

Talk to Dr. Amari

All that’s left to do is chat with Dr. Amari again, discussing what happened in the memory lounger and where you should go from here. Your next mission will take you to a very dangerous part of the Wasteland, the Glowing Sea. You can also talk to Nick Valentine for a different type of conversation.

It’s time to decide where you’re headed next. Will you continue on and play Fallout 4: The Glowing Sea, or will you return to USgamer’s Fallout 4 Walkthrough and Guide? The former will take you to the next story mission, and the latter will allow you to browse through all of our featured Fallout 4 content.
