Rainbow 6 Siege: GIGN Operator Guide - Montagne, Twitch, Doc, Rook

This guide will help you familiarize yourself with the GIGN Operators in Rainbow 6 Siege. This class is made up of four Operators - two Attackers and two Defenders. The Attackers consist of Montagne and Twitch, while the Defenders include Doc and Rook. We’ll go over the details of all of them, helping you choose the best Operator for the situation. The GIGN is one of the more stacked groups in the entire game.

Of course, there are many other Operators in the game, and we’ll be shining the spotlight on all of them at some point. If you plan to dig into Rainbow 6 Siege over the coming months, ensure you spend some time getting familiar with all of the groups and unique Operators that make them up. You can visit all of our work on each one by choosing a link down below.

  • GSG 9 Operator Profiles

GIGN Operator Profile - Montagne (Attacker)

  • Armor: Heavy
  • Speed: Slow
  • Primary Weapons: Ballistic Shield
  • Secondary Weapons: P9, LFP586
  • Generic Gadgets: Stun Grenade, Smoke Grenade
  • Unique Gadget: Le Roc Extendable Shield

We’re not huge fans of Montagne, but players who enjoy shields will love him. He’s slow, but he can provide a relatively safe method of entering an objective area. Have your teammates stack up behind you as you move in, being very careful not to get wiped out by a grenade or C4. Shields tend to make Defenders panic, so at the very least you’ll have the edge in psychological warfare.

GIGN Operator Profile - Twitch (Attacker)

  • Armor: Medium
  • Speed: Medium
  • Primary Weapons: G2, 417
  • Secondary Weapons: P9, LFP586
  • Generic Gadgets: Breach Charge, Smoke Grenade
  • Unique Gadget: RSD Model 1 Shock Drone

Twitch can be a very effective Attacker if you need to disable traps, or just harass the enemy by chasing them around with an overpowered drone, shocking them. This Operator is more for players that prefer the indirect approach, clearing the path for your teammates that might prefer the gun play a little more than the preparation and strategy. Still, in the right hands this class is actually very powerful.

GIGN Operator Profile - Doc (Defender)

  • Armor: Heavy
  • Speed: Slow
  • Primary Weapons: SG-CQB, MP5
  • Secondary Weapons: P9, LFP586
  • Generic Gadgets: Barbed Wire, Deployable Shield
  • Unique Gadget: MPD-0 Stim Pistol

Doc is one of the most useful Operators of the Defenders, as he’s able to fire a projectile at downed teammates to revive them. This equates to you having more people in the fight, while the enemy must deal with losses that they cannot come back from. Doc also uses Barbed Wire and a Deployable Shield, both of which are very popular among Defenders. Stay close to teammates so that you can revive them when they fall, otherwise you’re wasting Doc’s abilities.

GIGN Operator Profile - Rook (Defender)

  • Armor: Heavy
  • Speed: Slow
  • Primary Weapons: P90, MP5
  • Secondary Weapons: P9, LFP586
  • Generic Gadgets: Deployable Shield, Barbed Wire
  • Unique Gadget: R1N “Rhino” Armor

Like Doc, most games will see someone playing as Rook, and they should be. This guy can drop a bag of armor at the start of the round, allowing all of your teammates to pick it up, and thus take more damage than they could have before. This means that typically heavily armored defenders are even tougher to kill, giving you a better shot at winning those one-versus-one gun battles. It also helps that Rook carries an MP5, a monster of a gun for Rainbow 6 Siege.
