Chapter 8 - Sub-Zero
Tundra, Sub-Zero's brother, is seen entombing someone in ice because they were apparently being very uncooperative. He starts walking away from his victim and runs into the converted Cyrax. He tries to reason with his old friend who only introduces himself as a Lin Kuei unit. Now, the battle ensues.
As Sub-Zero, you have a good number of options. He classic attacks remain of the Ice Clone, Ball Slide and puddle. Particularly his Ice Slide is much easier to execute in this game than in previous entries. imHis X-Ray attack has good range on it to, being based on a slide attack.
Against the Cyber Cyrax, you want to be mobile to counter his own abilities. He has gained an explosive teleport move so try to keep some distance. He has also picked up some more blade based attacks. Just keep on guard and freeze h
Cyrax teleports away after the battle as Sonya and Jax show up. They are confused as they know that Sub-Zero died, seeing his skull shatter on the ground. Tundra, Sub-Zero, explains to them that he wants to learn his brother's fate, who was the one that died. They exchange a glace and tell him that Scorpion killed him and suggest looking in the Collusiem. Another voice suddenly interrupts, saying they have distrubed his regeneration. Ermac manifest in from of them. Jax attacks him. Ermac uses his powers to grab Jax's arms and completely destory them. Sonya rushes forward and sears the bleeding stumps closed. Ermac turns toward Sub-Zero, Tundra, and challenges him.
Ermac really hasn't changed but will be more aggressive this round as we are nearing the mid-point of the story mode. He will make good use of his ranged throws and attacks.
Sonya attempts to reach her command but cannot. Tundra seeks the condition of Jax, but still says he needs to head for the Collusiem. He does tell Sonya that there is a portal to the south that will take them back to earth realm. Se hopes the portal is close for Jax's sake.
The scene changes to Kitana fighting and winning against a defender. She pleads for him to kill her for failing her father. She hestitates but SHao Khan does not and kills the man. He demands that Kitana then join him up on the podium. Sub-Zero arrives, waits out the fight then demands that Shao Khan summon Scorpion. Shang Tsung tells him that no one can make demands of the Emperor and sics Reptile on Sub-Zero.
Reptile may make better use of his invisibility in his battle and combo together is acid attacks. Expect to take some damage and put in a few tries to win here.
After he wins he mocks Shao Khan and declares he will only participate if Scorpion appears. Shao Khan seems to be very giving at that moment and has Quan Chi summon Scorpion from the Nether Realm. He appears and immediately recognizes that the man before him is not Sub-Zero. Tundra explains himself and states he fights for his brother's clan and honor.
Scorpion will be more aggressive than you have dealt with before. While he does not have a lot of ranged options, keep on guard against the ones he has. Be sure to take advantage of the Ice Clone to attempt to get him during teleport punches.
Claiming victory he makes to kill Scorpion but the Cyborgs appear and attempt to claim him to return him for Judgment. Scorpion makes good on the escape and leaves. Sektor and Cyrax appear and ask the Emperor to relinquish Sub-Zero to them. He asks what they will give him for making such a bold request. Their response is the loyalty of the Lin Kuei. He grants his permission and the cyborgs all take this new Sub-Zero away.
Raiden arrives to see the final moments of this process. He stops Smoke from charging forward, saying it would only lead to his capture. He laments on how sparing Smoke of his fate of becoming a Cyborg has lead to Sub-Zero becoming one instead.
