Chapter 14 - Cyber Sub-Zero
After all of this, we see a start up screen, that struggles to connect to something else and it fails but something works in a different way. Now, you see Smoke talking with Cyber Sub-Zero. The alliance decides to send him back into Outworld as an undercover agent. Sub-Zero agrees as they have no way to recognize that he has defected to the other side.
He returns to Outworld of his own will. Sektor asks about the intruder and Sub-Zero replies that he killed the intruder because he was a formidable opponent. Sektor tells him that there is a mission they need to carry out. The two appear in the Subway. Sektor reveals that he scanned Sub-Zero and found that he has been tampered with, he demands that Sub-Zero remove his access panel. Sub-Zero refuses and Sektor attacks.
This Cyber Sub-Zero is very different from how he was as a human. He has a teleport move now (Down, Toward + Front Punch) and a number of his moves have changed up. It is easier to look at his special move list to see all the small changes to him.
Sektor is a solid first opponent, you need to understand the basics of Fighting at this point to really survive against him. Still, he does give you time to learn your character a bit at least. Just watch out for missiles and his teleport attacks.
After the fight Sub-Zero accesses Sektor and learns where the Outworld forces were holding hostages. He frees them but does so at a great cost to his cover. Kintaro and Goro both are aware of his defection but he managed to free the hostages. Now though, you need to fight both Kintaro and Goro, in one battle.
Remember they both have the ability to absorb some hits. Liberal use of Sub-Zero's freezing abilities will help here. A good mix-up can easily lead to victory so keep some variety in your attacks.
Now the chapel shakes as all the people he tried tpo help are thrown back into there. Ermac is helping now too. Time to take him down as well.
Ermac should be known by now, with his telekinectic slam attacks and moderate range. Keep the pressure on and you should find him down. If he is being too fast, make use of Sub-Zero's new teleport ability to instantly close any gaps. Make some use of his Cyro-bombs as well for a better spread on a delayed freeze attack.
Now, with Ermac gone the troops thank him. He heads for the graveyard. There we see captured troops, Quan Chi and Noob Saibot. Sub-Zero reports this to his allies. Raiden sees all of the souls on earth being absorbed by Shao Kahn, multiplying his powers many fold. He looks at his amulet to see it only crack further. After that, the scene returns to the Graveyard where Noob and Sub-Zero square off. The truth of Noob Saibot's identity is revealed here then the two of them fight.
Noob is a tough opponent, so expect this to take a short while. Keep in mind you need to defend against short ranged attacks and numerous teleport-based assaults. Noob is best handled using your own mobility to cut around his attacks.
Once you beat him, Quan Chi manages to finish the ritual and the tornado begins to form.
