Dark Souls Walkthrough Part 3 – Firelink Shrine

Talk with the one man sitting nearby to learn about a few things. The first is the location of the two Bells of Awakening. The first is in the Undead Church and the second is in Quelaag's Domain. He will also explain how to start restoring your humanity. As he tells it there are a few ways to do things:

Restoring Humanity
To avoid looking like a corpse you need to regain humanity points. One way is to collect humanity from corpses that you find around. The second is to have a Cleric summon you, likely involving bribery. The third is to loot it from healthy Undead that you encounter in your travels.

Now, look around the camp site, to the far right of the man you will see a glowing orb above a corpse. Go over there and collect it to gain 1 Humanity. Now head to the left, going up the nearby stairs, and ascend. Inside you will find  Thorolund, a wandering NPC, who will start to sell you items if you talk to him enough. He will give you a copper piece after you talk with him some. The next time you talk he will offer to teach you some miracles.
His initial stock is:

Continue up and you will find an open shaft nearby on the left. Drop down into it and follow it along. You will find a number of chests. Inside them you will find: Cracked Red Eye Orb x4, Morning Star, Talisman, Homeward Bone x6 and Lloyd's Talisman x4. To exit the area, look for a small gap in the wall. Go through it and past the last chest to drop into the graveyard. You will likely encounter a pair of skeletons that will go after you. If you are good at fighting, try it, otherwise run for the stairs to your left. Once you are strong enough for the graveyard you will find Large Souls of Lost Undead in there. You can easily run by heading up the stairs, into the area with the pool. Head through there to the right and through the openings. You will quickly find yourself back at the bonfire at the shrine. Collect what you can in this area then head away from the bonfire. You will find some stairs leading up a cliff along that path. Take them up.

At the first landing you will encounter some sensible enemies. There are 6 total though. 4 are with you on the same level while the another is above throwing fire bombs. The final one is further up yet, waiting for you. Attempt to backstab them to quickly remove the threats. Now ascend to the top of the structure they are on, an aqueduct. First collect the Soul of the Lost Undead at the far end. Now return to the top of the stairs and head through the door nearby it. Inside you will find more souls and an Undead Rat to the left. To the right you will find an one-way door and a doorway to your left. Go through the doorway.
