Dark Souls Part 16 – Return to the Firelink Shrine to the Undead Asylum

Likely you have made a few trips here over the course of the game. There is more here now than there was before. The biggest, literally, change is the addition of Frampt. He has taken up residence where the small pool of water was. This dragon advances the plot and tells you what you will be aiming to do next, story-wise. His main use you will find is to eat items and give you souls in return. After you have met him, take some time to talk with the NPC's in the area to learn more about them.

Here you will find that the Bonfire has gone out and there one of your “friends” has run away. Laurtec killed Anastacia of Astora below the Firelink Shrine's Bonfire. This means you need to track him down to kill him and reclaim her soul. Until that time you cannot use the Bonfire here in the Firelink Shrine.

You will likely stand a much better chance at exploring the nearby Graveyard area as well. You can find a few more weapons and a pair of binoculars. Do note that only the Large Skeletons are worth any souls.

Take some time to learn any new Pyromancies, sorceries or miracles that you want. It is time to make a return visit to the Undead Asylum, where all this started, to get some very fine goods. To get there is not the easiest thing to do though.

First head for the elevator that leads to the Undead Parish. Step on it to make it go up. Now, when it reaches the open above the opening for the elevator walk/roll out onto the ledge. This can take a try or two so just wait for the next elevator to appear to try again. Now head onto the green ledge to your right. There is a slight jut in it just a little ways over that aligns with a buttress to the broken church. Roll toward it to land on the buttress. Now head up the buttress and go to the left for a moment. You will make your way onto a roof of a church. Move along the ledge and roll to get on top where you can collect an item. Now head back to the joining part and continue up the stairs on the right. This leads to the Crow's nest. Walk into the nest and curl into a ball. Wait a minute and the giant bird will once again whisk you away to the Undead Asylum.
