You awaken back on Animus Island. Take a moment to listen to the dialogue between everyone then head into the portal. Ezio will now be able to recruit new assassins. Be sure to take a little time to decrease the Templar Awareness of your activities by bribing a herald or killing a corrupt official. If you need to find either, then consult the in-game map to find at least one of those. Take a little more time to visit a blacksmith and grab the new piece of armor that is available.

Once you are ready head for the marker to find the Prisoner. He will explain things and offer to repay his debt to you if you can free him.

Full Synchronization is achieved by pickpocketing the guard.

Head for the marked green zone. Many of the ways in are blocked by standing guards or frequent patrols. As you close, if you are after the full synch, head into the ocean. Head over to the dock neraby the raised house. Climb out of the water there and climb up onto the wall to the right of that building. Turn on Eagle sense and wait for the golden guard. When he stops is whne you want to climb up, fast walk to grab the key, then dash away into the ocean. Break off pursuit then make your way back to the cage with the prisoner. You have recruited your first assassin.

By completing this objective a number of challenges will open up for you. You now have free access to the tunnel network making it easier for you to transverse the whole of the city.
