The entrance to Loredo’s estate is tucked away up a small path next to the first house on the right as you enter Flotsam. This quest can only be completed after 21:00 in the game, and for this reason chronologically it is after the Kayran boss battle. If, however, you have yet to fight the Kayran, you can obtain ingredients necessary to craft Kayran Traps in Loredo’s estate.
Talk to the guard at the gate and agree to leave your weapons outside of the estate. Roche will appear and accompany you inside. Upon walking into the compound, Roche will point out a ballista on the cliffs to your right. He asks you to disable it and then come speak to him afterwards. In order to do this, head over to the woman leaning up against the wall and talk to her. She offers to distract the guard in return for either 60 orens or a favor. Choose the favor to save yourself a little money. The woman will ask you to defeat the men at the nearby table in an arm wrestling match to humiliate them. This can be completed in a quick time event. Walk over to the table and talk to either Myron or Alphonse to initiate the arm wrestling match. Return to the woman after defeating the men and she’ll keep her end of the bargain. From here, simply head over to the ballista and click to disable it.
Find Roche by the tower and tell him that you have disabled the ballista. Talking to the guard outside the door will reveal that Loredo is currently busy talking to Sile. As Sile is somehow connected to Geralt’s past, you’ll want to find out what exactly the two are talking about. Talk to Roche again. He will distract the guard for you so that you can sneak around the back of the compound.
If you’re caught during the stealth section, the guard will send you to Loredo and the mission will continue as normal, so don’t worry about getting caught. Sneaking will grant you some interesting bonuses and a deeper look into the world of The Witcher 2, however, so at least try to get past unseen.
Just like in the dungeon, make sure to stay out of any light sources. Putting out the fires and torches will make your job significantly easier. Otherwise, simply try to stay behind cover if a guard looks your way and take them out stealthily when their backs are turned. When you reach the first three windows of the compound you can look inside and catch a glimpse of Loredo’s mother performing some sort of witchcraft. From these windows, carefully proceed to the edge of the building. A guard will be patrolling right around the corner. Wait until he turns his back and take him down. Turn around the corner and head forward. Climb up the ledge. You should be able to see Sile through the window ahead. This is the window you’ll need to eavesdrop through.
Guards still patrol the area, however, and they should be dealt with before spying. Taking them out should be fairly easy as long as you patiently wait for them to turn their backs. After removing the threats, head around the corner and follow the wall to where it meets the side of a house. A chest containing Astrogarus’ Armor sits nearby, and you can gather the iron frame necessary for crafting the Kayran Traps at the end of this path, where the house meets the wall. Finally, head over to the window where you saw Sile and climb up the ladder to initiate the eavesdropping. You’ll hear Sile arguing with Loredo.
Return to Roche and report what you heard. At this point, you’ll be invited inside to meet with Loredo while Roche is left to wait outside. On the way up you’ll bump into Sile, who is upset but won’t elaborate on the argument. The talk with Loredo will culminate with him asking you to use Zoltan to spy on the Scoia’tael. You can choose to either accept or reject this proposal. Your decision here really only influences your passing through guard posts; if you agree to spy, the guards will let you pass freely, while if you don’t you’ll have to resort to Axii or persuasion.
As you leave Loredo’s compound, be sure to loot all of your items from the chest out front. Completing this quest grants you 300 experience points.
