You can get the quest "A Night to Remember" once you hit level 14. This is a fun quest, kinda like the movie "The Hangover". Go into any of the taverns in Skyrim - try the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. Locate a guy named Sam Guevenne.
Sam Guevenne: You look like someone who can hold their liquor. How about a friendly contest to win a staff?
Your choices are:
A drinking contest? You don't stand a chance
I don't really feel like drinking...
Choose the first option. He tells you the brew you are about to drink is a special brew, very strong stuff. This unlocks a misc objective, "Participate in a drinking contest with Sam Guenvere"
He starts the first round of drinking, and gulps in a full cup of brew. Now it is your turn. Choose "Here we go" to drink your brew. He drinks another cup, and you have your second serving to. He tells you he thinks he has hit his limit, so if you can drink one more you will win the contest. One more, no problemsh. You did it, he tells you, and the staff is yours. You seem to be very drunk as your speech is garbled, "Thash grape!" you tell him. He tells you that you are a fun person to drink with. He knows this great little place where the wine flows like water. We should head there. He tells you that you do not look so good. You blackout.
You wake up in a different, unfamiliar, place. Sister Senna is there. She scolds you: "That's right, it's time to wake up, you drunken blasphemer. So you don't remember fondling the statuary, then? I'm guessing you also don't remember coming in here and blathering incoherently about marriage or a goat? Which means you don't remember losing your temper and throwing trash all over the temple"
Your dialog choices are:
Was a man named Sam with me?
I'm sorry, I don't even remember how I got here (PERSUADE)
Tell me how I got here and I'll pay for the damages. (BRIBE) (203 gold)
If you try to persuade her that you do not even remember how you got here and fail, she tells you she would LOVE to help you figure that out, but she is SO busy cleaning up the mess you made of their temple... If you would help tidy up and maybe even APOLOGIZE afterwards, she might be able to help you.
Your objective now is to help clean up the Temple of Dibella. This begins the quest: A Night To Remember.
Pick up the following items to clean up your mess. They are all scattered round the room:
Alto Wine
Giant's Toe ^_^
Holy Water
Repair Supplies Note
Make sure the quest is active so that the markers point you to the location. After you clean your mess up, you will need to apologize to the priestess of Dibella. If you cannot be bothered with cleaning up, you can instead pay her off to advance the objective.
Next you will have to find Sam Guevenne and find the Staff to piece together the puzzle of what happened last night. Senna tells you that you were ranting when you got here but most of it was slurred. You did say something about Rorikstead and suggests you take a look there. Your objective will now be to ask about Sam and the staff in Rorikstead. Exit the temple to Markarth, and fast travel to Rorikstead if you've been there before, otherwise go to Whiterun and travel west on foot.
In Rorikstead, find Ennis in the farms. He tells you that you have got a lot of nerve showing yourself in Rorikstead again and asks what you have to say for yourself. Tell him you have no idea what he is talking about. He asks you if the name "Gleda" rings a bell. The star beauty of his farm. Kidnapped by a drunk lout and sold to a giant? He threatens to call the guards and have you hauled away if you cannot bring yourself to remember. You can tell him:
Help me retrace my steps and I'll pay you for the goat (1000 gold)
Tell me everything and you won't end up like your goat (INTIMIDATE)
I need to find Sam and the staff, in order to get Gleda back (PERSUADE)
What happened with Gleda again? I'm a little fuzzy on that.
If you pass the speech check, he tells you about a note you left which was mostly gibberish, and the only thing you could make out was "after repaying Ysolda in Whiterun". If your speech check fails, your task will be to find Gleda the Goat. Go to the south of Rorikstead, and up the hill. Kill Grok the Giant who is wandering with his new friend, then talk to the Goat to make it follow you. Bring Gleda the Goat back to Ennis in Rorikstead. He now tells you about the note mentioning Ysolda in Whiterun.
Your objective now sends you to Whiterun to talk to Ysolda about the staff. Find Ysolda, usually wandering near the market. She tells you that you owe her something. When you ask her how much you owe, she tells you it's not about the money. She wouldn't have given you the wedding ring on credit if you weren't so obviously in love with her. But if there isn't going to be a wedding, the least you can do is give the ring back. That was one of her best pieces. When you ask her if she knows what you did with it, she says you went right out to give it to your fiancee! And after you told her the sweet story of how you met in Witchmist Grove, she can see why your fiancee left you.
You can try:
I don't care about the ring! Tell me what else I said (INTIMIDATE)
Seriously, let me pay you for the ring (2000 gold)
I just need to get to the wedding, please (PERSUADE)
What was the story about my fiancee?
If you succeed on the speech check, she mentions that you said the ceremony was going to be at Morvunskar. If you fail the speech check, your objective becomes to find the wedding ring in Witchmist Grove. To get there, go to Windhelm and travel south. Talk to a hag called Moira, who refers to you as "Darling". She has been waiting for you to return, to consummate our love. You can tell her you were hoping to just get the ring back, but in vain. Kill Moira, then take the Wedding Ring from her, as well as Hagraven Feathers. Return the wedding ring to Ysolda in Whiterun. She mentions the huge ceremony at Morvunskar. You said you even had some magic staff there that would handle all the guests.
Head to Morvunskar, southwest of Windhelm. Be prepared to fight a bunch of mages. Enter the fort and go down the tunnel to the basement, fighting your way through tough magic users such as a Storm Wizard. Behind a locked door there is also a boss called Naris the Wicked. After exploring the area, enter the Misty Grove Teleporter. Search Morvunskar for Sam and the Staff. When you find Sam Guevenne, talk to him. He was beginning to think you might not make it. Tell him it was quite a trip and ask what is this place. He says he thought you might not remember your first trip here. You had a big night and he thinks you've definitely earned the staff. Tell him you have all the things needed to repair it. But he says you can throw those out. He suddenly transforms into Sanguine. He really just needed something to encourage you to go out into the world and spread merriment.
And you did just that. He has not been so entertained in at least a hundred years. You ask him if all of this was just a prank. He tells you that the Daedric Lord of Debauchery does not deal in mere "pranks". This may have begun as a minor amusement, but it wasn't long before he realized you'd make a more interesting bearer of his not-quite-holy staff.
You black out again and you wake up where you met Sam Guevenne. You have earned the Sanguine Rose, a staff that summons a Dremora Caitiff for 60 seconds. This concludes the mission, "A Night to Remember".
