This battle on the new Watkyn’s Harbor map will be an Endurance battle, the first of its kind that you will have encountered thus far. In an endurance battle, you will face an infinitely spawning tide of enemies. You will have one life to deal with eight of the foes. Reaching the eight kill will grant you victory. This makes the Endurance battle much more difficult than a standard deathmatch, where your opposition will steadily be decreasing as you score more kills.
Although the infinitely spawning enemies can be a pain, they can also provide you with the advantage of having your pick of the litter, so to speak, in who exactly you choose to fight against. Over the course of this battle, try to only focus on the enemies with the lowest health ratings. These vehicles are, of course, Reaper, Kamikaze, Death Warrant, and Roadkill. Heavier foes, such as Darkside, are more trouble than they’re worth. If you see them, turn tail and flee, using your Turbo boost to easily escape their grasp.
When choosing a vehicle for this match, take time to carefully consider your playstyle and how it might be affected by an infinite tide of enemies. Reaper is a great choice for poaching the weaker cars, as a charged up flaming chainsaw from this vehicle can just about kill a weaker enemy in one or two shots. That said, Reaper is one of the weakest vehicles in the game in terms of armor, so a hit and run approach is best if you choose it. A safer, but potentially more time consuming choice would be Sweet Tooth’s ice cream van. Use your alternate special, the Sweet Bot, to fly up into the air and ground pound the weaker enemies. Again, this tactic can all but eliminate the weaker enemies in one shot. You’ll just have to send a few rockets their way to finish the job. If you’re going for the gold, Reaper might be the better choice because of its speed and its devastating chainsaw attack. Getting from one enemy to the next quickly is important in order to achieve a good time ranking. Otherwise, go with Sweet Tooth.
Using Sweet Tooth will grant you another advantage as well. By transforming into the Sweet Bot, you can fly on top of several buildings in the area to get a height advantage. You can use Homing Missiles or Sniper Rifles from the top of the Petrolco building to the east of the map, the Watkyn’s building in the center of the map, or the Diamant building to the west of the map. Other than these basic strategies, there isn’t much to this match except pure survival.
