Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Walkthrough Part 14 – The Coming Storm, An Old Friend

The Coming Storm
Head into Ysa and into the center of it. There you will find the entrance to the Font. Head up the stairs and go straight south from there to find the Court of Summer where the High King holds his audiences. Head inside the double doors to meet him.

Move forward and place the Codex of Destiny on the Pedestal in front of the High King Titarion. This triggers a long cutscene hinting at things to come. Now you can learn something of what has been happening. It is clear though that you will confront the God behind Gadflow. Titarion will tell you to speek with your allies and to marshal forces to stand with you.

At the end of this scene you will be awarded a new Twist of Fate, “Unwritten One”. This gives +3% Experience and +5% Gold.

An Old Friend
Turn around and talk with Agarth. He will want you to bring in an old friend. This is the man who brought you back to life, Hughues. He tells you to head for the Hollowlands, to the southeast of the Gardens of Ysa. There you will find Templar Octienne who sponsored Hugues' work.


A Great General
Talk with Alyn Shir. She will tell you that you are going to need an army to stand against Gadflow's forces. She will tell you it is time to bring in a General Tilera. She instructs you to head for Emaire to get more details.


An Old Friend
Head into the Hollowlands, southwest of the Sidhe. Keep along the western edge to find the Overlook Camp with Templar Octienne. He wants you to track down Hugues, whom he suspects is hiding in some nearby mines.

Head for the Saltwell mines that are now marked on your map. It is only a short ways from your present location so it is a quick run. Inside the mines . Head inside and immediately go to the left. You will find a Gnomish Corpse that has a scrap of Parchment in its possession. As soon as you take the parchment you will attacked by a number of Sons of Laz and some Faer Gorta Sentinels.

Now head north to the door above where you found the assistant. You will find another room and inside there a pair of Sons of Laz. Kill them and explore the room. Along the southern edge you will find another Gnomish corpse with the Emergency Supply key on it. Collect and the research notes that are along the western edge of the room then continue northeast.

Be careful as you exit room as there is a tripwire trap waiting there. In the next room you will likely face a trio of Faer Gorta Sentinels. Defeat them and explore the area around the wooden structure to find more of the Saltwell lab notes. Be sure to look around the southwestern area to find the emergency supplies and collect some good items.

Head down the next corridor to the southeast. Feel free to swing into the small enclave going to the southwest for some loot and to deal with a pair of Sons of Laz. You can use the Incinerator to kill them quickly just be sure to pull the lever again to disable it before you head anywhere near the flames!

Once you reach the next room you will find eight Sons of Laz. Defeat them all. Look along the western edge to find another Gnomish corpse with an Emergency Supply key on it. Explore the room's southwestern portion to find the next door.

In the following corridor, to the left, you will find the second emergency supplies. Continue to the west to find another group Faer Gorta. Defeat them for the experience, if desired, then continue to the southwest in the next large chamber. Head to the northwestern portion to find your target, Hugues. After a brief reunion you are attacked by a number of White Palm Assassins and Stalkers. Defend Hugues, unleashing a flurry of attacks on the dozen assailants coming at you. Deal with them and talk with Hugues. You can opt to attempt to take on Octienne head on but Hugues will discourage this and favor blackmail to get the needed information. Now just make your way outside. Kill off the trio of assassins blocking your way to get back to the hollowlands.
