This is it – your first Deadly Descent. Equip the strongest armor in your inventory or in the store, and begin the run.
Head through the smoke and towards the shining holographic skull imprinted on the mountain. Collect the flares on either side of the path, and then return to the center to grab more flares. Keep to the center to duck under two intersecting fallen trees. Keep to the left, following the flares, and go off of the jump. When you land, jump over the fallen trees and duck under the leaning trees immediately after. There will be a branch in the path ahead where you can either go left or right. To the left is an icy cavern, and to the right a log you can grind on. If you boost during the grind, both paths are about the same in terms of length and safety.
Return to the center of the path, following the flares, and prepare to jump and trick. Hit the jump and go over another fallen log as you land. Keep following the flares as they curve to the left, then sharply to the right and up the wall. Avoid the thicket of trees in the center as the path curves to the right. A left-hand curve will follow immediately afterwards. Ride the path up the left wall to get some air, or keep it close to maintain your speed.
Follow the path. The walls will begin to ease upwards, creating a small tube. Momentum will be high in this spot. Stick to the middle of the path to avoid crashing. Pre-load a jump as you near the end of the path and launch yourself off of the ramp at the end. Maintain your speed as you approach, and you can get some big air here. Jump over another fallen tree shortly after you land. Grind the tree in the center. Boost and pre-load a jump towards the end to hurtle forward into the air and grab a floating collectible. When you land, follow the flares. You will reach a split in the path where you can go either to the right or left. Stacks of fallen trees will come in this order: right, left, right. It’s safest, then, to go left.
Return to the center of the path and jump. Keep following the flares, avoiding the fallen tree in the center of the path. Another jump will soon be approaching, right after you clear the fallen tree. Three large stacks of fallen trees in a row will block your path as you approach the next cavern. You’ll need loaded, high jumps to clear them without taking damage. As you exit the cavern, four small trees, half-buried in snow, will await you. Use short hops to go over them. Any longer than that, and you’ll jump too far and crash into the next submerged log. The exception is the fourth log. Pre-load your jump before you clear this log, as you’ll get some air during the short drop that follows. Follow the flares, boosting as fast as you can the whole time, to reach the finish. Now you have officially finished the Rockies, and you’re ready to head across the world for more snowboarding action.
