Silent Hill Downpour Walkthrough Part 7: Water Chute Machine Puzzle Solution

After talking to JP, your task will be to follow the path down to the train. Leave the area from the 2nd exit, and use the elevator to go down a level. Go down the corridor and to the outdoors area. There will be a couple of Screamers here. Kill them (or you can try to run). You can use money to see through the binoculars. Descend down some stairs, and cross the bridge onto Bat's Lament Falls. The frail wooden bridge collapses beneath you, but you manage to hang on and climb up. But there is no going back to the other area. You also might have lost some items when the bridge collapsed.

Rotate a lever and enter some cave. Pick up the pickaxe and use it to break open the barricaded doorway. Keep going through the narrow cavern and reach a wooden door. Open it and go through. Push crate under the doorway. Near a sign that says "Elevator Machinery" there is a fence, but it won't budge. You realize that the underground river powers most of the mine's machinery.

Go up to where the sign is that says "Water Chute" and cross the bridge. You reach a Water Chute Machine Puzzle.

Solution to valves puzzle:
Rotate the wheel on the left three times until water is flowing through the log above. Then rotate the second valve four times to make it descend and continue the flow of water. Rotate the last valve twice to complete the process of directing the water flow to the water wheels.

Note: If you did not push the crate to the right place, the door you need will now be shut. Undo what you did for the puzzle and push the create onto the doorway so that it will prevent the door from shutting down completely.



Go through the door. And then through the narrow passage. Near some water find a first aid kit and some pistol bullets. A Screamer will emerge from the water and attack you. Kill it. Backtrack and go to the elevator (Which was earlier fenced off) and should work now that you have solved the puzzle. Board the elevator and go down. A cutscene will show some Screamers jumping on the elevator after you. They land on the top of the elevator, and cause it to collapse and fall down the chute. You land in a mine near some rails.
