Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City Classes Overview: Medic, Recon, and Surveillance

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City boasts a fairly in-depth class system consisting of six different class types, each with their own specialties and powers. That said, the game doesn’t always do the best job of laying out the strengths, weaknesses, and unique powers of each of the classes. That is where this guide comes in. This walkthrough will cover each class in great detail, including all of the available passive and active abilities of each. Keep in mind that the first level of each ability costs 750XP, the second level 2,000XP, and the third level 5,000XP unless otherwise noted.

Medic

The Medic class is the first-aid specialist among the different classes, and it is best suited for players who want to take on a support role. They can also buff their teammates, making them a must in any strong team.

Passive Abilities Available:

First Aid Proficiency:

·         Level 1: You will now spawn with one First Aid Spray already in your inventory, and your carrying capacity for First Aid Sprays increases to 2

·         Level 2: Your carrying capacity for First Aid Sprays increases to 3

·         Level 3: Your carrying capacity for First Aid Sprays increases to 4

Field Medic:

·         Level 1: You will now regenerate 16% more health when using Green Herbs and First Aid Spray

·         Level 2: You will now regenerate 33% more health when using Green Herbs and First Aid Spray

·         Level 3: You will now regenerate 50% more health when using Green Herbs and First Aid Spray

Active Abilities Available:

Stimpack:

·         Level 1: You will receive 1 Stimpack that increases accuracy and movement speed for 15 seconds. You can use the Stimpack either on yourself, by holding Y/Triangle, or to your allies by tapping Y/Triangle, aiming the dart gun at them, and hitting the fire button – Costs 1,000XP

·         Level 2: Allows you to carry 2 Stimpacks – Costs 2,500XP

·         Level 3: Allows you to fire carry 3 Stimpacks – Costs 5,000XP

Neutralize Infection:

·         Level 1: Cures infected teammates and deals light damage to enemies

·         Level 2: Cures infected teammates and deals medium damage to enemies

·         Level 3: Cures infected teammates and deals heavy damage to enemies

Painkiller:

·         Level 1: Reduces damage dealt to you or ally by 50% for 10 seconds – Costs 1250XP

·         Level 2: Reduces damage dealt to you or ally by 70% for 10 seconds – Costs 3,000XP

·         Level 3: Reduces damage dealt to you or ally by 90% for 10 seconds – Costs 6,000XP

Brutal Kill:

The Medic’s Brutal Melee attack is another stabbing attack. The stab will produce a Green Herb from the wounded enemy, making this a great move for healing quickly.

Recon

The Recon class is lightly armored and agile. They specialize in getting behind enemies and attacking at close quarters. Because of this, the first upgrade you should go for is the Active Camouflage. However, many of the Recon class’ abilities are centered around disappearing off of mini-maps, making them less than essential during co-op games. The Recon class is most at home in competitive play.

Passive Abilities Available:

Stealth Run:

·         Level 1: Increases your movement speed by 5% and makes you invisible on enemy mini-maps, even when sprinting

·         Level 2: Increases your movement speed by 10%

·         Level 3: Increases your movement speed by 15%

Detection Avoidance:

·         Level 1: Allows you to remain invisible on enemy mini-maps when moving less than 50% of your maximum speed

·         Level 2: Allows you to remain invisible on enemy mini-maps when moving less than 75% of your maximum speed

·         Level 3: Allows you to remain invisible on enemy mini-maps when moving even at full speed

Active Abilities Available:

Motion Detector:

·         Level 1: Throws out up to 1 sticky motion detector that will highlight enemy positions on your mini-map

·         Level 2: Throws out up to 2 sticky motion detectors

·         Level 3: Throws out up to 3 sticky motion detectors

Mimicry:

·         Level 1: Allows you to select a target and transform into them for 30 seconds, hiding your true identity

·         Level 2: Allows you to transform into the selected target for 60 seconds

·         Level 3: Allows you to transform into the selected target for 90 seconds

Active Camouflage:

·         Level 1: Cloaks you for 10 seconds – Costs 1,250XP

·         Level 2: Cloaks you for 15 seconds – Costs 2,500XP

·         Level 3: Cloaks you for 20 seconds – Costs 5,500XP

Brutal Kill:

The Recon class sadly lacks any special effect from their Brutal Melee kills.

Surveillance

The Surveillance class is essentially the opposite of the Recon class. Unlike the last class covered, this one specializes in rooting out hidden enemies and displaying them on the mini-map for the entire team to see. This class is also capable of locating supplies such as Green Herbs more easily. Like the Recon class, the Surveillance class lacks the heavy armor of classes like Assault and Demolition.

Passive Abilities Available:

Item Detection:

·         Level 1: Allows you to see every item within a 10 meter radius on your mini-map – Costs 1,250XP

·         Level 2: Allows you to see every item within a 15 meter radius on your mini-map – Costs 3,000XP

·         Level 3: Allows you to see every item within a 20 meter radius on your mini-map – Costs 6,000XP

Proximity Detection:

·         Level 1: Increases the radius that your mini-map covers and its size on your HUD, and automatically detects the presence and type of enemies within a 10 meter radius. You will also be alerted whenever an enemy targets you

·         Level 2: Automatically detects the presence and type of enemies within a 15 meter radius

·         Level 3: Automatically detects the presence and type of enemies within a 20 meter radius

Active Abilities Available:

Threat Scanner:

·         Level 1: Scans the area around you up to a 20 meter radius and automatically notifies your allies of any threats

·         Level 2: Scans the area around you up to a 40 meter radius and automatically notifies your allies of any threats

·         Level 3: Scans the area around you up to a 60 meter radius and automatically notifies your allies of any threats

Sonar Vision:

·         Level 1: Allows you to see and target enemies through walls from up to 20 meters away for up to 10 seconds – Costs 1,000XP

·         Level 2: Allows you to see and target enemies through walls from up to 40 meters away for up to 12.5 seconds – Costs 2,500XP

·         Level 3: Allows you to see and target enemies through walls from up to 60 meters away for up to 15 seconds – Costs 5,500XP

Biothermal Vision

·         Level 1: Highlights enemies up to 20 meters away for 10 seconds

·         Level 2: Highlights enemies up to 40 meters away for 15 seconds

·         Level 3: Highlights enemies up to 60 meters away for 20 seconds

Brutal Kill:

The Surveillance class’ Brutal Melee attack involves shoving a Stun Grenade into an enemy, much like the Demolition class does with a regular grenade, and shoving the enemy back. This is a great area of effect attack, as the grenade will explode and stun any enemies unlucky enough to be caught in its blast.
