Dragon Age Origins Walkthrough Part 23 – Urn of the Sacred Ashes, Part 4

Mountaintop
Move across the bridge after the cutscene. Head across the bridge, cross the field and over to the next temple, the Gauntlet. If you managed to get Kolgrim's Horn, then you can fight this “Andraste” but it is a high level high against a Dragon!

The Gauntlet
Head up the stairs and break to the East. In the first chamber, investigate both the Northern and Southern sides of the room to collect some treasure as well as 30 Andraste's Arrows. Now head to the Eastern end of the room to meet the Guardian. Give a true response to him so you may receive a nice amulet soon. He will test the party's resolve. This gets some interesting hints from party member's about their past.

After it is all settled, be sure to look at the book to the left of the door. This unlocks the codex entry, “The Maker's First Children”. Now, it is time to head into the Gauntlet itself.

A Test of Faith
Trial 1
This part is a series of riddles. If you give the Wrong answer, then an Ash Wraith will attack. It will only do so once but then you get experience for it.

Row 1
Ealisay:
“The smallest Lark may carry it while the Strongest man may not”. -  “A Tune”

Brona:
“Echoes from a shadow realm; Whispers of things yet to come; Thought's strange sister dwells in night; Is Swept away in Morning Light” - “Dreams”

Row 2
Lady Vasilia:
“An Eye for an Eye, a Tooth for a Tooth. A debt of Blood must be paid in full” - “Vengeance”/ “I don't know”

Thane Shartan
“I'm neither guest or a trespasser be. In this place I belong, that belongs also to me” - “Home”

Row 3
Disciple Havard:
“The Moans of the world stretch toward the sky's embrace. Veiled in white, like a bride greeting her groom” - “Mountains”/“I don't know”

General Maferath
A poison of the soul, passion's cruel counterpart. From love she grows, til love lies slain” - “Jealousy”/ “I don't know”

Row 4
Disciple Cathaire:
“No man has seen it, but all men know it. Lighter than air, sharper than any sword. Comes from nothing but will fell the strongest armies” - “Hunger”/ “I don't know”

Archon Hessarian
“Shre weilds the broken sword, and separates true kings from tyrants” - “Mercy”

When you cross through the door, the Warden will come face to face with a person from their past:
Human Noble – Bryce Cousland
Dwarf Commoner – Leske
Dwarf Noble – Prince Trian Aeducan
City Elf – Shianni
Dalish Elf – Tamlen
Circle Mage – Jowan

Trial 2
Beyond the encounter comes a strange fight. You go against your own party. They possess all the same abilities. You know what your party can do so exploit your own weaknesses to full effect.

Trial 3
This part consist of a puzzle. There are a number of plates that the party needs to stand on to make all of the bridge appear. This is broken into a few parts to pull off the full puzzle:
Have a party members stand on the following tiles first:

Southern side: Second from front

Northern side: Third from front, Last from Front

Move Warden onto the second bridge section.
Southern Side Side: Move from the Northern third to the Southern Side fourth

Move character from Southern Side second to Northern first

Move character from Northern farthest to Southern Side fifth

Move character from Southern Side fourth to Northern second

Move the Warden across the bridge. As soon as they are across, the rest of the party will follow. Head into the next room to face the final Trail

Trial 4
Approach the altar and read the inscription on it. Follow what it says to remove all your equipment. After that, go through the fire and approach the altar.

At this point, if you listened to Kolgrim, you can taint the ashes or just take a pinch. Either way, this completes everything here so it is time to leave. Be sure to explore that area first to collect some nice goodies on an Adventurer's corpse inside the room. Head through either door to quickly return to the Mountaintop.

Head on through toward the bridge. There you will encounter Kolgrim (if you didn't kill him earlier). Here he will either attack you for going back on your deal or reward you for tainting the ashes. Either way, it is resolved here. Now, keep to the South as you head forward. There is a shortcut that can be used to bypass everything you passed through on the way here, leading straight to the Ruined Temple.

Ruined Temple
Head to the West to return to the Main chamber. After that, turn South to reunited with Brother Genitivi. You have another choice to make here, to let Genitivi share this discovery with the world or to insist that it be hidden. The only way to keep it hidden though is to kill Genitivi which is more an evil act as he is a good man and scholar. Make your choice and return to Redcliffe to revive the Arl.
