This will be the final part of the Conspiracy Theory quest on Roche’s side in Act 2 of The Witcher 2. This will come very near the end of the second Act. If you haven’t already, you will have to finish the Blood Curse quest, the The Assassins of Kings quest, and the The Eternal Battle quest before you can continue with this one. If you need help with any of those quests, refer to the previous guides to finish them. Note that The Eternal Battle, along with the quests leading up to it such as Death Symbolized, Hatred Symbolized, and Where Is Triss Merigold are not listed right before this guide because they are the same no matter whose side you took at the end of Act 1. If you need help completing any of these quests, refer to the earlier guides covering them during Iorveth’s playthrough. The events will be largely the same in both versions.
After completing The Eternal Battle, you will awaken at the brothel just outside of camp. Dandelion will be there as well. (Spoiler) He will recount for you the recent events that have occurred while you were out, and they don’t look especially good for you. Henselt discovered the conspiracy theory and its full breadth, and he and Dethmold went on a rampage. Dethmold began to imprison and magically torture the townsfolk and the army’s men hoping to glean some information about the plotted assassination. While Henselt and Dethmold were busy rampaging around torturing people, Dandelion discovered perhaps the greatest lead of them all. One of the figureheads of the traitorous plot will be holding a get together on the top of the nearby cliff, by the hut. You will have to head there yourself to intercept the conspirators. Leave the brothel and head all the way to the south. The cliffs lie at the far southern end of the map, just before it cuts off.
When you arrive at the cliff, you will discover the true identity of the head of the conspirators. You will come face to face with Roche. That’s right, Roche himself has been leading the coup the whole time. When you find him, he will be talking about the upcoming battle with a group of nobles, who will ask to return to the King to accompany him into battle, as they can’t be bought off. Tell Roche that the conspirator Kirim was caught. Head back to camp to warn the others about Roche.
Once you reach the Blue Stripes’ camp, you will find out that everyone has been invited to a large feast of sorts to celebrate the unveiling of the true identity of the conspirators. Along the way, groups of soldiers will attempt to intercept you. They shouldn’t be much of a problem for you to deal with, though, as they will be relatively weak. Carve through the soldiers and keep going. Proceed to the camp’s cantina, where you will find more soldiers waiting for you. Kill them all and run into the cantina. Sadly, you will be too late. Every one of Roche’s soldiers will be hanging dead from the ceiling. Except for Ves, that is. She will have suffered perhaps a worse fate still. She will run out with tears in her eyes and tell you that Henselt raped her, promising that if she allowed it he would let her fellow soldiers live. The corpses hanging from the ceiling will be testament to how far the King’s word went. Roche will enter the scene all too late. In a rage, he will begin attacking the Kaedwenis. (End Spoiler.) This will end the Conspiracy Theory quest at last, and lead into the next quest, The Siege of Vergen. Although this quest was techinally present in Iorveth’s sotry as well, it was vastly different. For this reason, the next guide will cover the quest from Roche’s side.
