Roche will be in a desperate, berserk rage after the events of the Conspiracy Theory quest’s endgame, and rightfully so. He will mercilessly kill every Kaedwani that he comes into contact with. At the beginning of this quest, Geralt will ask Roche to calm down and think about his actions before he runs out attacking everyone mindlessly. With a calculated strike, you are likely to deal far more damage. Tell Roche about the secret tunnels that you used during the Hatred Symbolized quest, and follow the red dots towards the next objective.
Along the way, you will find groups of Kaedweni soldiers milling about in your path. As they draw swords to attack you, don’t hesitate to get in their faces and kill them quickly. After killing several groups of the soldiers, you will come across a female troll. You will have the choice of either killing her outright, or asking for information about the area and about Letho. Take the second, more diplomatic, option if you are interested in preserving the best outcome of the situation. The troll will tell you that she saw Letho recently, but he was aggressive and made her back down. She will also have seen Sile nearby, heading towards Vergen. After you are done speaking with the troll, search the shipwreck to the side to find a chest with the Journal of Eyla Tarn item inside of it. This will complete the side quest Mystic River.
Keep running through the valleys. When the path branches, follow the left-hand turn upwards to begin heading north. Follow the valley as it opens up, and you will soon reach a male troll. He will be battling a group of Kaedweni soldiers when you come upon him. Since you share a common enemy, join the male troll on the battlefield and help him defeat the soldiers. If you opted to kill the female troll earlier, this situation will end violently. Tell him that you killed his female counterpart and he will fly into a rage. This will cause him to attack you. You will now have to kill the male troll as well. If you decided to spare the female troll, the male troll will be much nicer to you. Tell him that the female troll is safe and sound and he will leave to distract a group of Kaedweni soldiers by Vergen’s gates for you, making the path ahead much easier.
