The next scene opens on Dunban, waking up in bed. The man is pretty much just as he was during the game’s intro- except that sans his shirt, his right arm can be seen. The limb is covered with what looks like a large burn scar, and it quickly becomes evident that Dunban is lacking much of his strength in general- especially in that arm.
Presently a young woman comes up the stairs to greet him good morning- and this turns out to be Dunban’s younger sister, Fiona.
She has come to bring her bedridden older brother (who looks alarmingly muscular for someone who’s been bedbound for a year) his breakfast. Put off, the older of the two siblings tries to ward her off, but she insists on caring for him as she’s sure she needs to. Eventually he gets her to let up so he can eat his breakfast unaided- mostly by teasing her about Shulk and how much time she spends around such a reclusive young man. Finally he reassures her that while he was injured by his use of the Monado, he still needs to be ready to use it in case of a Mechon attack upon the colony.
Relenting, Fiona heads downstairs to get some food together to bring to Shulk- who she acknowledges needs someone to help him as well, since he’s so focused on his weapons and scrap.
And then it’s Fiona time- because it’s you in control of Fiona this time, no sign of Shulk anywhere.
On stepping out of the house, Fiona immediately runs into Dickson. After the two have a brief discussion about Dunban and Shulk, Dickson points out that he sent the younger man out to get some air, and he’s likely to be over at the Outlook Park which is across the Colony and up the cliffside stairs.
After this, though, you are set free- you can do as you like, until you head Fiona up to the Outlook Park.
Fiona is another DPS-heavy character- in fact, even moreso than Shulk. Where Shulk’s abilities dish out damage and weaken things so that they can be hurt even more or so that they can be Toppled, Fiona’s abilities are much more offensively oriented. While one of her Arts turns Topple into Daze and another inflicts Break, her others are pure damage- one of them by adding a bleed-damage effect. She also lacks even a way to equip medium-weight gear, instead relying on her agility and speed to leave melee range and return to it. While this can be a very effective tactic in a group, it’s next to useless solo- so don’t rely on going out and gaining some levels fighting monsters with just Fiona unless you like facing dozens of fights with the low-level Bunnits and Skeeters.
