Tera Walkthrough: Initial Sorcerer Training

Speak to Researcher Dulari in his camp near the Timeless Woods to start this quest. This one, as its name suggests, is available only for Sorcerers. Other classes get their own quests.

I trust you've seen by now that this island is no normal place. The Ghilliedhus, the structures to the south, and further on there's the... well let's just say you'll be no use to us if you're dead. Making the island safe for future researchers is your top priority now. Junia over there will teach you how to be a better sorcerer.

Your task is to receive information on how to learn magic spells from Volis at Dulari's Camp.

Talk to Volis standing under a tent nearby:

"The arcane arts will carry the eager student far, especially here. Volis is a guide along sublime pathways, pathways undreamt of. Sorcerers, priests and mystics will all benefit from such tutelage. Of course, such expertise comes with a price..."

Click on where it says "Initial Sorcerer Training". Volis tells you that those seeking knowledge are right to come to Volis, child of Karas. These skills are available from instructors throughout the federation every even level. For now, an eager sorcerer should focus on Backstep.

Your next objective is to learn Backstep from the skills menu. Click on Volis again and then on "Learn Skills". Choose Backstep (a level 2 skill) and click on "Learn". Then speak to Volis again. He gives you some advice:

"The hammer has no effect if it cannot find the nail". These words describe the Backstep, which moves you away from damaging attacks. Also, even the most experience spellcasters use Mana Infusion to replenish their power. Without the resources to turn knowledge into actions, defeat is the only possible outcome."
