Risen 2 Dark Waters Walkthrough Part 18: Pete's Treasure Map

Remember the prostitute Holly who you spoke with earlier as a part of the Settling the Score With Hank quest? She will come into play again when collecting the Pete’s Treasure Map quest. Head back to the tavern to find her right where she was before. If she didn’t tell you before, you can learn that there’s a rumor going around about a pirate named Pete who recently went missing. If you pay her 100 gold, you can get her to fess up about the rest of the story. Note that it is not completely necessary to hand over the 100 gold. If you stumble upon Pete yourself, you can get the map for free. See the last paragraph for more details.

Holly will tell you that Pete has left to bury his treasure in a nearby tomb, between the tomb and a large gorge. If you have explored much of Tacarigua, you will immediately think of the location of the treasure. Underneath the wooden bridge that lead from the east side of the island to the west side is a gorge that contains a ghastly looking temple. In order to reach the area from the pirate’s camp, leave the main gate and turn to the west. Go straight ahead to reach the gorge. It will be on your right. Move to the north to reach the entrance. Along the way, be ready with a finger on the space bar. As you near the objective, a trap will spring from the ground to spear you, a last insurance policy for Pete and his treasure. The only way to avoid the trap is to quickly mash on the space bar.

As you near the temple, you will see a corpse splayed out across the ground. As you approach the dead body, you will find that it is none other than Pete lying deceased at your feet. Search his body to find that he still has his treasure map on his person. Take the map. This will complete the Pete’s Treasure Map quest and initiate the next phase in this quest line, Pete’s Treasure. You can also loot a Cutlass and some Provisions from Pete’s dead body, so feel free to take them if you think you’ll need them. You will receive 50 Glory points for finding the map.

Keep in mind that if you are already near the temple and you haven’t spoken with Holly about the treasure yet, you can actually complete this quest without ever initiating it by simply approaching Pete’s body and looting the map from it. It’s just nice to have a little bit of context courtesy of Holly, but that said you don’t necessarily need to pay the 100 gold to initiate the quest.
