Xenoblade Chronicles Guide- Walkthrough Part 49: The Survivors' Camp

The Colony 6 Survivors’ Camp is a very small area, consisting of a small lake- more of a pond, really- with a strange vehicle sitting in it, and a cave that comes off of the small alcove that hides the pond away from the forest.  There are a number of sleeping mats in the cave, and while the area isn’t terribly large, there are a surprising number of people here- a few adults, but mostly elderly people, children, and Nopon (whose ages and natures are really difficult to tell even when you do talk with them).

This is the area that you’ll be spending a lot of time in for the next bit, so you’re going to want to make yourself familiar with these people.  Especially since the area is home to a lot of time-limit quests.

Time-limit quests are a particular form of quest that you’ll want to keep an eye out for in Xenoblade Chronicles.  While they don’t have a literal time-limit (so you can take as long as you need to complete them properly), you will find that if you’re not careful, you lose the chance to complete them.  Time-limit quests are marked by an orange-red watch of the older style- think of the sort of pocketwatch you may have seen in Westerns or on the person of train conductors.

Time-limit quests are available as soon as you can reach the person who gives them- but if you advance the story too much, it won’t matter whether or not you got the quest or meet the requirements- you just can’t complete it.  Since that would be a loss of resource (something every good RPG player abhors), you’ll want to take your time in this area before advancing the plot too much further.

On the other hand, you’ve still got a party of only two, which is not a full party!  Besides, if you’re having any difficulty with the fights, it’s likely to be mostly a problem with surviving them- Shulk’s heal is useful in a pinch, but it just isn’t strong enough to keep Reyn up against a serious opponent, nevermind saving Shulk’s own skin if you get yourself in too deep.

Fortunately, nothing you have any business with on the plains should give you too much trouble (outside of a particular quest, which will be discussed when I go over the area’s quests), but there’s an opportunity here to get and adjust to a new character, and you’d have to be dumb not to take it once you know it’s there.

Therefore, once you enter the camp, the first thing to do is head into the cave and past all the crates and sleeping rolls to the Southmost part, where Sharla and Juju are waiting.  There’s an explanation waiting for you, after all.
