This vision of Shulk’s is particularly grim- again there is the field of Mechon tentacles, though this time the ground around them seems to be lit on fire. The vision is unsteady, but it’s all too easy to see Juju and Sharla in the grip of the strange metallic flowers, limp and, at absolute best, unconscious. Behind it all looms another metal form, bearing a face and limned in lines of glowing red light.
Shulk breaks free of the vision to Reyn stepping into the sibling argument, telling Juju to ‘have some respect’. The boy, frustrated, storms out- ostensibly to make dinner. Reyn seems a bit unsure of Juju and his response (and of his own choice at that point in the argument), but distracts himself by noticing Shulk’s contemplative stance.
Sharla doesn’t notice, though, and instead points out that when Reyn’s angry he reminds her of Gadolt when he’s angry- apparently Gadolt took care of her and her brother when the two were young. She claims she saw him as a brother, but that Juju considered the man like a father to him. The purplette also points out that Gadolt called Juju ‘kid’ when scolding him, just as Reyn did. Reyn is a bit flustered by this, pulling his attention away from his longtime friend for a moment to claim that he’s really not ready to be someone’s ‘old man’ (a fatherliness being something he’s not fond of the idea of taking on).
Turning back to Shulk, Reyn asks if ‘it’ happened again. Shulk has just enough time to agree before the sound of Juju’s scooter revving up echoes into the cave.
The three run out of the cave after him, but by the time they reach the pondside area, Juju and his trike are already gone. Reyn is upset over the boy storming off, but Shulk is more than that- he’s fearful. ‘Something bad’s gonna happen.’ He insists. He explains to Reyn about his vision of the flaming valley and the black shadow that he’s sure kills Juju. Reyn asks if it’s the same foe with the metallic face, and Shulk agrees. After a moment to take that in, Reyn pursues further, trying to find out if it’s near Colony 6, apparently forgetting that his blond friend has never been there. Shulk isn’t sure, but supposes as much- it’s where he thinks Juju would have headed to, after all. Reyn accepts this as good enough, eager to go after the boy.
Sharla isn’t about to just let this go by, though, and shouts for an explanation. Reyn replies rather bluntly that Shulk can see the future.
