We continue our guide to Random Dungeons in Diablo 3 Act II. This part covers Dahlgur Oasis and Desolate Sands. For random dungeons in the Howling Plateau, Stinging Winds, Alcarnus, and Black Canyon Mines, see the previous part.
The main use of this guide is to get the Nooks and Crannies achievement.
Ancient Cave
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Two level dungeon (Ancient Cave Level 1, Ancient Cave Level 2)
Monsters include beasts and undead such as Chilling Construct, Electric Eels, Savage Flyers, Vile Swarms
Loot/Gold sources include chests, barrels, bloated corpses, rat nests, dead villagers, dead Iron Wolf, and rock piles
Level 2 has a Resplendent Chest in it.
Cave of Burrowing Horror
Location: Desolate Sands
This dungeon unlocks after defeating a unique (purple named) rockworm boss, Shaitan the Broodmother (Great Maker)
This is a two level caves dungeon (Cave of Burrowing Horror Level 1, Cave of Burrowing Horror Level 2)
Mobs here include Slime Spewers, Charged Stingers, Reapers, Rockworms, Murderous Fiends, Brood Hatchlings. Sometimes a rare elite yellow spawn can be found here, such as Zorr of the Darkness (Waller)
Loot sources consist of Skeletal Remains, Egg Sacks, Dead Worms, Dead Adventurers, Stone Piles
There is a Resplendent Chest to be found on level 2.
Flooded Cave
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Two level cave (Flooded Cave Level 1, Flooded Cave Level 2)
Enemies here include Brood Hatchlings, Savage Flyers, Webspitter Spiders, Rockworms
Sources of treasure include Bloated Corpses, Rock Piles. Sometimes rare (elite) yellow bosses spawn here, such as Evil Eye the Destroyer (teleporter)
Resplendent Chest on level 2.
The Forgotten Ruins
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
This is not a random dungeon, it always spawns as part of the quest "Betrayer of the Horadrim".
However, it is still needed for the Nooks and Crannies achievement, which is why its included in this list.
The Fowl Lair
Locations: Desolate Sands
Located during the Blood and Sand quest. There is a body with a journal alongside, as well as an Ancient Device. There are 10 outcomes for the Ancient Portal Device, one of them takes you hear.
Small map, there is a Greasy Pig (Fast Beast) inside (Easter Egg). The Greasy Pig is easy to kill and gives great loot.
Mysterious Cave
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Locate a wandering merchant called Zaven the Alchemist and help him. He will open the door to a Mysterious Cave near a waterfall.
This is a 2-level dungeon (Mysterious Cave Level 1, Mysterious Cave Level 2)
Mobs here include Bone Warriors, Deadly Haunt, and Skeletal Rangers
There is a bloody chest or a resplendent chest on the second level
Old Fisherman's Cellar
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Small map
Some Stinging Swarms and Writhing Deceivers here, sometimes also a yellow elite such as Despair the Damned (Knockback)
Not much sources of loot otherwise, except for some barrels and dead villagers.
Ransacked Cellar
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
A desperate villager asks for your help. The Imperial Guards are searching his home and he does not want them to find what's in the back room
Kill the Imperial Guards, Veiled Sentinels, and Copperfung Lurker (Demons)
He then opens the back room in which some refugees were hiding and lets you take whatever you want from the chests. This room has two chests, one of them potentially being a Resplendent Chest with good magic items and rare items.
Rotting Cellar
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Small cellar, possibly a chest inside.
Storage Cellar
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
A merchant NPC, Lugo the Miner, can be found here
Storm Cellar
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Very small map
Little treasure, Possibly some barrels, dead villagers, and a chest.
Swampy Cellar
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Another one of the Dahlgur Oasis Cellars.
Small map, limited loot.
Tomb of Khan Dakab
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Activate two ancient levers to open the door
Entering triggers an event, to find the Lost Treasure of Khan Dakab. You need to find and pull the Vault Door Lever. Then enter Khan Dakab's treasure vault, possibly on the other side of the dungeon. Then, open the Treasure of Khan Dakab and destroy the Spirit of Khan Dakab (Malevolent Ghost) that spawns.
Monsters here include Writhing Deceivers, Betrayed, Vile Swarm, and sometime elite yellow mobs such as Zuul (Teleporter).
You can find a Satchel on the ground with a green lore book, Last Will of Khan Dakab.
While there can be some regular chests scattered in this dungeon, the main treasure is obtained from the chest in the treasure room, as well as from killing Khan Dakab's Spirit.
Tomb of Sardar
Location: Dahlgur Oasis
Pull a lever to unlock the entry
There is an event here, Sardar's Treasure, which requires you to enter Sardar's Treasure Vault. Then, open the Treasure of Sardar and kill Sardar (The Soulless One)
Pretty big dungeon.
Monsters here include mostly demons such as Writhing Deceivers, Betrayed and Serpent Magus.
Good magic and possibly rare items from Treasure of Sardar chest as well as from slaying Sardar.
There is a lorebook in a random location in this dungeon, "The Musings of Sardar"
The Veiled Treasure
Location: Desolate Sands
This is one of the outcomes of using the Ancient Device (Portal Device). This is one of ten possible outcomes.
Vile Cavern
Location: Desolate Sands
Two level caverns (Vile Cavern Level 1, Vile Cavern Level 2), big map
Monsters here include Charged Singers, Webspitter Spiders, and Rockworms
There is a Resplendent Chest in the second level of Vile Caverns.
