The next thing seen is Sharla and Juju- in almost sepia-toned off-gray. Apparently a flashback, we see the two siblings in a metal-lined room- some kind of underground shelter, apparently. The room shakes, small rocks and dust falling from the ceiling despite said ceiling being somewhere between metal-plated and mechanical. A man runs into the room with a rifle- Sharla greets him as Gadolt, the man she spoke of to Shulk and Reyn.
Gadolt mentions that it’s only been a year since the battle of Sword Valley, and expresses his confusion and worry over the fact that the Mechon have multiplied so much in such a short time. Sharla receives and checks over his rifle as he speaks, then readies it as a man with spectacles and a beard enters the room. As he walks in, this new person asks Gadolt if the numbers of Mechon are too much even for him. Sharla speaks only his name in greeting, identifying Otharon.
Otharon looks troubled, staring into the distance and thinking for a brief time before turning to give Sharla orders. He tells her and Juju to ready the ships and run the evacuation efforts. She doesn’t immediately move to comply, prompting him to reassure her that he knows she is worried- but the ships have limited space. He further states that the Defence Force must remain to protect those others who still remain in Colony 6. Still worried, Sharla looks to Gadolt, who reassures her that he’s perfectly alright with this. He points out that it will be easier for him to focus on fighting if he knows that she is safe.
Sharla clearly still isn’t confident herself, insisting that he promise to meet her and Juju outside of the colony afterwards. When he doesn’t respond quickly enough, she holds out his rifle, insisting that he must get out of the colony alive. As he takes the rifle from her, he promises, and the group all walk off.
Forwards in time a short distance, Sharla is standing by the ship as Juju and several other people load in goods and possessions, promising herself that she will make sure to protect everyone until she can see Gadolt again. The image changes here, to show Gadolt with his rifle, walking into flames? The turn for the surreal only gets worse, as the voice of Mysterious Face pipes up now, laughing cruelly and saying that -he’ll- protect everyone. Protect them inside his belly.
The rounded shape of Mysterious Face’s brass skull looms into view then, followed by his fist, clutching Juju. The boy only has time to scream his sister’s name before Mysterious Face flies off into the distance with him-
-and then Sharla wakes suddenly, shouting for Juju. Sitting up in her bedroll and clenching her hands before her chest, she wonders aloud where he is, only mostly stifling her crying.
