Diablo III- Skills Article CLXXI: Barbarian Elective Build Five- What do you Mean, Melee?

Mouse Skills:
Bash (Pulverize)
Weapon Throw (Ricochet)
Hotbar Skills:
Seismic Slam (Shattered Ground)
Ground Stomp (Avalanche)
Ancient Spear (Rage Flip)
Sprint (Gangway)
Passive Skills:
Weapons Master
Animosity
Unforgiving

In this build, the passive skills are the thing that combines with Elective Mode to make it all really possible.  Weapons Master with a Mighty weapon means generating 3 Fury every time you hit anything, making up for the fact that you’re trying to spend most of your time at a distance where even Bash doesn’t hit.  Animosity further boosts your ability to be angry without being in anyone’s grill, and Unforgiving goes a step further and turns you from a Generator into a Generator/Regenerator (though the resource regeneration is admittedly a bit slow).

When you need more Fury than you’re generating to power your attacks, you want to find the nearest enemy and Bash it- using the Pulverize rune means that anything in a rather long line behind it will also get smacked, making this skill as long-ranged as you can find in a Primary skill.  Of course, you’d rather be using Weapon Throw.  Ricochet is used here to get the most total damage possible, though if you prefer focusing on a single target, Mighty Throw is good, and if you find yourself needing to generate more rage, Hammer Throw is another useful alternative- something that’s stunned can’t hit back when you go up and Bash it for Fury.  Kind of like a pinata.  Of blood and anger.

Seismic Slam and Ancient Spear are here for being the other two true ranged attacks in the Barbarian skillset.  Both of them hand out knockback thanks to Rage Flip, and their damage is pretty sizeable, though the Fury cost for Seismic Slam is also sizeable.  Seismic Slam can and will put a much bigger dent in your Fury than Weapon Throw, so make sure you need the larger area and either the higher damage or knockback badly before pulling it out.  Ancient Spear, on the other hand, has a cooldown, so save that for emergency ejection.  Ground Stomp (Avalanche) does well to clear things out when you’re surrounded, and can also stun an opportune target for more Pulverizing (Fury candy!).  Finally, we have Sprint (Gangway), which will get you out of a hedge of enemies and scatter them so you can turn and fling axes at them.
