Darksiders 2 Walkthrough Part 42 – Sidequests, Part 9
Find and Kill Argul, Explore the Lair of the Deposed King
Kill Argul – Suggested Level: 20 and above
Explore the Lair – Suggested Level: Any
In the room with the Phantom Beast, head over to the locked door and use the Skeleton Key to open it up. Go on up the stairs to the elevator that sits in the middle of the room. Turn to the South and climb up the wall with the aid of the post and the hand hold. At the top turn to the West and throw the lever there. It will provide a shortcut back to the elevator chamber should you opt to return here later to face Argul in the depths of this lair. Now return to the elevator and strike it with one of Death's weapons. That will activate it and lower it down into the depths.
Once the elevator stops head out to the West just a little. Remember this, do not go all the way West until you are ready to Argul, the Deposed King. There are 3 frozen Ice Skeletons that need to be attended to in this corridor. Before you break them out and deal with them head into the Northern Room. There are 3 Ice Skeletons in there that should be dealt with first. There are 2 additional frozen Ice Skeletons in this room as well.
Head into the Southern room after that. There is a pair of Ice Skeletons that will come at Death from in here. The 2 remaining skeleton is frozen and needs to be broken out to be defeated. Head over to the Southewestern corner of this room now. Walk along the edges of the rise to collect the second Soul Arbiter's Sacred Scroll.
Head into the corridor and deal with any remaining frozen Ice Skeletons. If Death is close to 20 or above it, then head to the West and you will be facing Argul, the Deposed King
The Deposed King:
This is the last one of the hunting quest that you should be doing. That means something. Argul has a massive mace that he loves to swing around. To matters worse is that any hit from it will freeze Death. This means you must break out with the action button before too much bad stuff happens. The Ice will damage Death over time on top of the damage the King can inflict simply by swinging his mace around. It is very important to note as well that the shield is not there for show: he will use it to block attacks then counter attack with it. The best way to avoid a mace strike is to circle and dodge the King. Sometimes his mace will stick in the ground and that is your chance, otherwise he will launch a quick second attack at Death. Also in his arsenal is is a charge attack where he will set his shield on the ground and doing a short charge. The final attack is not used until he is below Half Health. He will spin around in deadly arcs and move toward Death. Dodge to the flip to avoid the worst, if not all, of the attack.
When it comes to attacking the King, only do so when his mace is stuck. He will block and counter any other time. These small openings are all you will get to attack Argul. Use them to do the most damage you can then retreat once again.
