Metal Gear Rising Walkthrough Part 34 – R-07: Assassination Attempt (Air Base and Final Battles)

Only 2 collectibles left now: the final Man in a Box and ID Chip 30. Head on out onto the runway and turn to the left. Hug against the wall and use AR mode to find the Armored Cyborg with the final ID Chip. Using the Pincer Blades it is very easy to quickly break his armor if you involved in a fight. Otherwise, just go for a Ninja Kill, but that is very hard to do as he likely entered Caution mode when you were on the approach. Now, quickly deal with the 2 Cyborgs below you. If the camera spots Raiden, then it is likely another Armored Cyborg will join the fight.

Now head to the Northern part of this area. Before you head over to the right and onwards, go to the left. You will see a stack of cargo containers. If you head over to the left and look you will find a a way to climb into the middle of them. Do so and you will find the final Man in a Box. Cut it open and take down the man to complete the set. After that you just need to head to the East and start toward the next Ranked Battles.

Ranked Battle 3: Metal Gear Excelsus
Attacks:
2-Arm Guillotine: Excelsus will raise its 2 arms high, glow yellow and then bring them down. This is not an attack you can block. You are best off running out of the way, using Slide Tackle to move farther or using Offensive Defense to get a few frames of invulnerablity and potentially a free hit.

Combo Guillotine: Excelsus chains attacks with its 2 arms bringing them down one after the other. It will do this a total of 4 times before it stops. Once again, Excelsus telegraphs this attack by raising both of its blades. Just be ready to move away to the left or right as soon as you see it.

2-Arm Swipe: Excelsus will lay its blades together and sweep them across the arena. Have Raiden Ninja Run toward them and he will automatically dodge between them.

1-Arm Swipe: Excelsus sweeps the arena with one of its arms 3 times. These can be dodged simply by jumping over them. Feel free to use an aerial combo to sustain your hover for a couple moments more.

Stomping: Excelsus will stomp the ground several times in succession. It is best to move to the farthest corner from which leg is stomping. If it is the right leg, move to the far left corner. If the left leg, head for the far right corner.

Leg Sweep: Excelsus sweeps ones of its legs across the arena. Where you avoid the attack depends on the phase. During the first phase, head away from Excelsus. During the second phase move in toward Excelsus.

Laser Beam: Excelsus uses its laser beam to sweep the arena. There are 2 modes of attack for this one and a dodge for each. For the lateral Beam, stay in the foreground, away from Excelsus. For the frontal beam just head to the sides.

Phase 1:
For this phase attack Excelsus' blades whenever you can. After that, evade its blows. When it finally puts its leg into the arena, hack away at it until its health is reduced to 70%. At this  point you have 2 Zendatsu moments to go through. Keep it to a single strike for each part. After that you will have stunned Excelsus. Move toward the head and pound away on it.

Phase 2:
When Excelsus recovers it is time for the second phase of this battle. It will introduce the Beam attacks and throw out some Gekkos at you. Work quickly to kill them while dodging the attacks from Excelsus. Just keep the fight up until you see Excelsus raise its second leg. Once again, close in and go for the kill. This will bring you to the end of the fight where you need to get through the utton sequence. It is nothing too hard but it takes a little focus. With that it is time to move onto the final battle against Armstrong.
