Dead Island: Riptide Walkthrough Part 7 – There Is A Way ... (Halai Village)

Be sure to talk with Chimamanda again to get the continuous quest for canned food. That can be a great source of money. Also be sure that you have Zoey's second quest,  "Electrifying". Talk with Harlow afterward to start the next story quest properly. She will tell you about a boat that is apparently moored in Halai Village. Time to go investigate it and see if there is a way for it to be used to manage the escape of the survivors. Head out to the East from the Paradise Survivor's Camp.

Be careful as you approach the car as there are typically Walkers around it. This is a good place ot just practice if you are still feeling shaky about taking on the undead. Be sure to look on the bench just beyond the car. You will find a Palanai Island Guide sitting by the head of the corpse on the bench. After that head over to the car and hop in on the driver's side. It is a ways to get to Halai Village and there a few recommended stops so hop in and start driving down the main road.

Driving offers a good way to simply kill zombies by running them over. You still get experience for it but the only thing you need to remember is keep moving. Do not ram trees to get zombie kills. This will stop the car and leave your character vulnerable to zombies coming at  them, avoid it.

As you are driving down the road, check your map. On the left-hand side you will likely see an icon for Chimamanda's continuous quest for canned food. Just be ready to fight off some zombies in the process. After that get back into the car and head for Halai. The signs will show up after a while so just follow them as the road turns to the left. When you reah the roadside bar you should take some time to clear what zombies you can then get out of the car. Finish off any stragglers then head up the footpath to the South of the Bar.

As you climb up the stairs going to the East, you will find yourself facing down a number of Walkers and a Suicider. Take out the Suicider first, while it is close to the other Walkers with a Ranged Weapon and watch the other 2 just drop from the explosion. Head over the rest of the path and start down the far side of the hill. An Infected is lingering at the bottom and there is a good chance it will up and charge you. Take it down and head over to the sign for Halai. You have made it to the village.

Head down the stairs to the right of the sign to start into the village itself. There are a lot zombies in this area so be wary of Walkers and Infected. Head on down the slope and go a bit over to the right. Take out the Walker there then turn to the left and make for the plaza, going to the right. Look for the walkways leading up. You can find Makayla sitting inside a barricaded room. She sells premium items (plus it makes a nice stop-over to clear inventory). After that head over to the marker. You will find Jackson behind a metal fence. Talk with him and he explains that there are no more boats there but there may be more at the Inland Marina.

When it comes to leaving Halai, you have 2 choices: make for the car (the way you came in) or just head to the North. It is recommended to go North. This will take you past a House on stilts with a barricade just tpo the right of the Northern Halai sign.. Head over to it and you will find Bruce up there cowering in the back of the room. He offers a new side quest you can grab: "White Line." Just head to the Northeast from there, kill off the Thiug and other Walkers and start making your way up the cliffside toward Mark's Marina.
