Dead Island: Riptide Walkthrough Part 18 – Twisted Mind: Meeting Locals, Natural Rescources (Halai to Makata)
Time to make for Makata Village from Halai. Head to the nearest car and drive out over to either the marina (if there is a boat there) or head over to the West from Halai then turn to teh North taking the travel of the hill to reach the entrance of Makata. From there head to the Northern buidling and search its Southern face to find the ladder up. From there just head over to the East. There you will find Hadisi. Talk with him and you will begin the next mission, "Natural Resources."
Hadisi refuses to let you in until you have brought some medicine to help his brother. Time to do more collecting. Dr. Hanson will come onto the radio and inform you that it sounds like the brother has begun to suffer from malaria. To treat that he will need medicine made from the bark of the Cinchona Tree. Time to go and hunt up 3 samples for this purpose. Grab the nearby boat and start for the first marker. You can also grab one of the cars from the next area over.
The first piece of Cinchona Bark can be found just off the waterways to the Northeast of Mataka Village. Head into the cave after you fight through the hrode of zombies that are right in front of the entrance. Head inside and you will find a new enemy type: The Burning Infected. You will want to use whatever ranged options are open to you for this. After that it is fairly simple with just a small wave or two of Walkers. Make your way all the way to the back of the cave. Look in the baskets on the left to find the bark you need. Be sure to also investigate the weapon cache for whatever it has.
The second piece of Cinchona Bark can be found to the south of the first. Just head on down the path, turn to the right when you can behind the bus stop. You will find some vines to climb, do so and press on along the faint trail in front of you. Go over the top of the hill, under an arch and then immediately turn to the left. Search the items in this area to find the second piece of bark.
For the third piece of Cinchona Bark head back to the Main Road and go across it. Head on up the slope and take the trail that is opposite the BioSphere Lab. Follow this trail to the final marker. Deal with the few Walkers that are on the lsope leading toward the Moazik Shrine. Be careful as a pair of Walkers can come up from behind you. After that just go over the hill and make for the circle of rocks ahead of you. There are plenty of Walkers here, an Infected or two and a Thug. It is a good time to use your Fury to just cut through them all and not have to worry about any more. Kill them off then head over to the Western portion of the stone cirlce to find the final piece of bark that you need.
With all that in hand head back to Makata Village. Handisi is not too happy that you have brough bark instead of antiboditics. Head inside to talk with his father, Batram. Batram is not much happier but he is willing to give a try. From there you are free to search the house for the maps you are after.
Head over to the left and look in the baskets in the hallway. You will find the maps but they only show jungle. Be sure to also investigate the photo to the right of where you found the maps. This will yield Marcus' notes. After that, you can search the rest of the house for the few items it will yield.
