The Last Of Us Walkthrough Part 11 – Chapter 3: The Outside (Downtown)
Start on forward after Tess going to the right toward the overpass. Before going too far, head to the left just after climbing the sunken car and crouch through the small opening there. Go over to the left and look for the potted plant. Interact with it to get a number of Supplements. These, when you have enough, can be used to upgrade Joel's Survival Skills. Now go back through the and climb the rubble to meet the others on the crest of the street. Welcome to the Downtown area.
Head on forward down the main road, Broadway. Head over to the right and toward the first street sign you see there. Look on the ground to find an artifact, “Evacuation Leaflet”. Keep an eye out to the left for a semi truck. It sits just to the left of where the road starts to slope upwards. Head into its carrier and over to the left to find some more parts that Joel can use. After that just head on forward up the slope ahead. They can see the Capitol Building without much trouble. The problem is getting there. Head over to the right and climb on through the window there. Just continue on forward and over to the right after that.
Head all the way over to the right first and look up the final tree you see there. You will find a Firefly Pendant hanging in the tree there. Shoot it down or throw a brick or bottle at it to bring it down then claim it. Now head back to the left and head up into the Boylstone Building. Go straight on through the building to the next door you can open. Head into the room and go over to the right. You will likely find some Parts there that Joel can use. After that head up the to the first landing of the staircase you just passed.
On the first landing you may find some more supplies. Be sure to also look at the paper to the right of the corpse next to the stairs. This is another artifact: “Field Ops Log”. After that head up to the Sixth Floor. Look in the back Left-hand corner to find some Crafting Materials. After that head back down to the Fifth Floor and go through the doorway there.
On the Fifth Floor move in quietly. There is a Clicker leaning against the door you need to go through. Walk over to it and interact with it using “Triangle”. Joel will pry it away from the door. After that hit “Square” to break through the mushrooms binding the door closed. Look for the closest desk after you break through the door. It has some crafting material and be sure to look to the right on the bookshelf in case there are some supplements there for Joel. Continue on to the right and duck underneath the collapsed filing cabinet then climb over the desk that is blocking your way forward. Head around to the other side of the row of desks you find in front of you to collect more Crafting Supplies. After that just head for the one door out of this room and open it with “Triangle” and then bash it in with “Square”. Head into the hallway.
As the trio enters the hallway a Clicker will attack Joel. Hit “Square” to break away from it before anything bad can happen to Joel then Tess will shoot it in the head. Things are not looking too good now. Head on forward down the hallway you are in. Follow Tess and Ellie as they head into a break room. Head over to the right and look for a cabinet you can open to collect some Crafting Item. Tess will find another ingredient and she will give it to Joel. This gives him the Health Kit Crafting Recipe so you can make them now with the proper supplies. Now head on through the door to the left of where you came in. You will find another door just beyond it. Interact with it once with “triangle” and it will be revealed as a Shiv Door. These doors can be forced open by using a Shiv on them. These alone are a great reason to keep at least 1 Shiv on Joel at all times. Inside these rooms you will find a lot of Crafting Items, Supplements and Ammo that can be used. Loot the room, replace the Shiv then head for the hallway you left. Just leave the Shiv Room and head over to the right.
