Skyrim Secondaries Intersection- Saarthal: Biggest Jyrik in Skyrim
Tolfdir appears behind you as you enter the first one- an inauspicious timing as it may cause you to accidentally trigger the trap panel on the floor of the middle of the room. Upon catching your breath, check to the right to find an alchemy table and a large magicka potion, to match the magicka potion located on the shelf in the wall of the room. The second and last of this set of small chambers holds a facedown draugr, whose coffin contains a soul gem, as well as a patch of mushrooms and another burial urn. Last of all, turn your attention to the iron door in the room.
Through this door is the tomb of Jyrik Gauldurson, who has been only recently awakened if the coffins in the area are anything to go by. The reanimated traitor is sitting contemplatively on his throne, initially ignoring you and Tolfdir (who proceeds to loudly exclaim over the stone sphere floating in a magical field behind Jyrik, which is taller than a man and heavily inscribed with runes). You and Tolfdir both will quickly discover to your detriment that Jyrik, in addition to being massively powerful and possessed of several ranged spell options to go with his weapon, is absolutely impervious to everything that ought to cause him damage. This part of the fight tends to be extremely rough on melee artists, who are unlikely to excel at keeping completely out of an enemy's reach.
Making matters still more difficult is that after five or six seconds, Tolfdir tells you to 'keep it busy' while he goes to inspect the field around the stone orb. This leaves you to deal with the thing alone for another few seconds before he succeeds at whatever he's about. This fortunately proves to be disabling the magical field around the immense stone ball, which simultaneously drops Jyrik's immutability, allowing you to finally start harming him.
Despite the loss of his indestructibility, you are now without Tolfdir's aid and forced to confront the powerful draugr one-on-one. Jyrik thankfully lacks the nasty gear of his brothers, instead substituting good durability and a strange magical effect- he is at all times surrounded by either a field of icy cold or a wreath of burning flames. Each element renders him immune to itself, but causes him to take double damage from its opposite, so if you're a spellcaster you need to be ready to swap spells near-constantly. Worse, the magic surrounding him does continual damage to those in close proximity, and Jyrik vastly prefers melee combat- elemental resistance is really in order for this fight.
