VideoGamer Plays, 30th August 2015

Steve Burns, Deputy Editor – METAL GEAR SOLID 5, PS4

Metal Gear Solid 5 finally turned up, and I was just as excited to play it as the rest of the office even though I'd already pumped 40 or so hours into it. What a game.

I've also been playing the review build of a certain football game that you may or may not have heard me talking about before. I can say no more than that, I'm afraid, due to embargos and NDAs and all sorts of other very boring legal agreements. You'll hear more soon. Sorry.

I mean, just watch this.

Brett Phipps, Guides Editor – Madden NFL 16

While much of the talk recently has been about the great strides Konami's PES 2016 has made, another sports series that's come on leaps and bounds is Madden.

Madden 15 did a lot of great things to make it more welcoming to new players while maintaining the depth and complexity to keep veterans interested, and the same is true with 16. I've only put a few hours into the game, but it's immediately noticeable that the defensive element has greatly improved. I enjoy taking part in every play where I'm not the QB.

That said, much of the past week has been spent in player career mode. As the New York Giants' fresh young quarterback, I've had a largely solid start to the season. While I've had no problem moving the ball down the field, I've got an incredible knack of throwing endzone interceptions. As you can imagine, this is enough to make your heart drop somewhere around the lower intestine, and I'm not afraid to say I've 'had a couple of power cuts' immediately following such incidences.

Madden NFL 16 is great, and I can't wait to spend more time with it. However, with the absolute shedload of games coming out (aka The Phantom Pain and then whatever), finding time to do so is going to be tricky.
