Guild Wars 2 Vistas Walkthrough Guide: Starting Areas of Each Race

One of the key elements of Guild Wars 2 is, not surprisingly, exploration. There are hundreds of "points of interest" for your character to discover, and viewable vistas and skill points are scattered all across the world. Some of them are easier to track down than others; there are a few that require a fair bit of legwork if you're to successfully locate them, and a couple of the skill points are somewhat difficult to acquire.

So why bother? Well, the vistas in Guild Wars 2 give you a nice cinematic of the surrounding area and a chunk of experience, whereas the skill points give you a nice bit of experience along with an additional point to spend on your hero's abilities.

So... long story short, you want to find both. The skill points in Guild Wars 2 aren't usually all that tricky to track down (though occasionally, they'll throw a nasty surprise at you, such as an elite mob). The vistas... not so much. This walkthrough will guide you through the starting zone of each race so you can find the locations of the vistas. We'll start with the Norn, but here's a list of what you can expect to find.

Vista Locations per Area:

  • Vistas in the Wayfarer Foothills
  • Vistas in Queensdale
  • Vistas in Caledon Forest
  • Vistas in Metrica Province
  • Vistas in Plains of Ashford

Wayfarer Foothills

Snowlord's Gate

This one's on top of the house in which you start - you'll be able to see it shortly after you've completed the tutorial for your character. In order to actually reach the first vista, however, you're going to have to climb up to Raven's Shrine. From there, it's a simple matter of jumping down onto the lower roof of the house, and following the beams up to the vista.

Borealis Forest

Up on top of a cliff, near where you complete the quest "Honor the Spirit of Bear. It's pretty much a straight shot to the vista, though you'll have to fight your way past some Eagle Griffins along the way.

Molensk

The Vista in Molensk is a bit of a pain to get to, simply because you're going to have to fight your way past a bunch of Dredge to reach it. Follow the largest tunnel of Molensk Southwest, deeper into the mines. Once you reach a fenced-in area next to a lake, you should be able to see the vista up on top of a nearby pipe.

The Osenfold Shear

After passing through Breakneck Pass, keep following the road until you reach the Taigan Grove Waypoint. Once there, forge a path straight east through the woods, until you reach The Osenfold Shear. Once you're here, you should be able to sight the vista at the top of a cliff. Simply go to the northern face of that cliff to find a path that'll take you up to the Vista.

Breakneck Pass

This one is probably one of the easiest waypoints in the area. From the previous waypoint, go straight south until you reach a bridge. The vista will be waiting for you on the other side.

Darkriven Bluffs/Hermit's Watch

Back at the Taigan Grove Waypoint, head East instead of West, keeping to the road. Keep to the south, past the area with the quest "Entertain and Protect the Children." you should eventually cross a bridge over a river, and from there, it's a simple matter of following the road up the bluffs until you see the vista. Careful - the area's swarming with the Sons of Svanir, and they won't be happy to see you.

Twinspur Haven

If you keep following the main road in the area north, you'll eventually find your way to Twinspur Haven. The next vista is close by, but don't be fooled - to reach it, you're going to need to start inside the fortress. Though it looks like you might be able to get to it by going out the main gate, you can't. Simply climb up the stairs onto the top of the wall, and look for the point at which said wall connects with the nearby hillside. Jump onto the hill, and walk up to the vista.
