Supernova

Welcome to Beta Data, where we get excited over increased system requirements and mystery games. But first, two of the biggest online games of 2016 are running beta events this weekend ahead of their early March launch dates.

People have been waiting for The Division for years and it became one of those games that many assumed just wouldn’t see the light of day for a long while. Yet here it is in open beta. You can play The Division this weekend on any platform (well.. WiiU players may be disappointed) for free and see whether or not it is the kind of game you want to buy into when it launches March 8th.

That is if you can balance it around Black Desert Online’s current beta test, which began yesterday. Daum also released a rather intriguingly voiced opening cinematic this past week which introduces the origins of the game’s story.

If that isn’t enough beta action for you for one weekend, Supernova are holding their final closed beta test this weekend. Starting today from 9am PST, this will be your last chance to earn unique in game rewards to take with you into the live game.

Still not enough? Trion World’s “DOTA meets X-Com” turn-based multiplayer game, Atlas Reactor, is holding an alpha Sneak Peek right now.

Blizzard updated the system requirements for World of Warcraft: Legion and the increase is pretty significant, as can be expected from a game that is constantly improving its graphics.

We also heard this week that BioWare are hiring for a new and unannounced IP. The person will need experience and knowledge of PC/console games with significant online elements, particularly in an MMO context. Of course, we have no clue what this game will be just yet, but we know that it will be an online multiplayer game.

Valiance Online have launched a new crowdfunding campaign this week to help with development costs and staff salaries, with the aim of making vast improvements to all aspects of the game and move to an alpha release on Steam.

Jagex announced the open beta for Chronicle: RuneScape Legends will be coming March 23rd, bring a while bunch of new features and improvements to the 3D card game.

And ASTA: The War of Tears and Wind at last announced their open beta date. Previously delayed to get localization right for players, ASTA will now be entering open beta on March 2nd.
