The internet

The internet or the world wide web has become the worlds first information source, but do you know its story?

The creation

The concept was devised with the Department of Defense (DOD) in the us. In the beginning it was created to make sure that officials would have an easy method of communication, in case to be hit by a nuclear explosive device. The internet was designed to survive the attack, as it includes a network of interconnected computers. The idea was that providing the computers exist, your connections should exist. It was called APRANET when it first started in 1969. Slowly but surely, the network started to develop and grow with may be users, so that the idea reached 550 users with 1981 and 940 customers in 1984. From after that on, people started to run wild with ideas of how it ought to be used and how to cultivate it.

Its process

As mentioned just before, the internet is a great interconnected network of computers that exchange data. The information exchange is done through packet switching using World-wide-web Protocol (IP). There are lots of ways to use this packet switching, but the most popular is TCP/IP and UDP. This stands for Transmission Control Protocol and User Datagram Protocol. UDP is a lousy protocol, meaning that packets that happens to be lost arent resent. On the other hand, the TCP resends its lost packets, making that more reliable, but slower than UDP.

Messaging in the net

Emailing has changed into a staple of the planets of business, education and more. An email can tolerate and get stored in many networks and machines (on its way from the sender to your recipient); making it fast and reliable. Nevertheless this same feature makes it possible for hackers to tamper with it or alter it. Thus the internal email network is even more secure and heavily relied on, when it comes to pressing protection needs. The internal network is a considerably smaller and controlled internet.

Although we use the keywords internet and World-wide-web synonymously, each term is usually slightly different. The World-wide-web refers to a multilevel of documents, such as images and files, which can be usually connected through hyperlinks. The documents travel the internet using the HTTP or the Hyper Text Send Protocol. Web browsers have to enable hyperlinks, so that users can swiftly move through the thousands of documents posted using the web.
