Black Gold Online: Five Things to Explore in Closed Alpha
Are you one of the lucky few that have been invited to Black Gold Online’s closed alpha? On March 20th, the MMORPG started its first (somewhat) public testing stage, which allows a very selected group of players to delve into the steampunk-meets-fantasy world of Montel. Read up on all the races and classes featured in the roleplaying game’s closed alpha here. There is more to explore in this early phase of the game than its characters, however. If you’ve followed our coverage of the upcoming title, you might be aware of its interesting features and game modes. If not, we’ve compiled a list of five things you can and should do if you are an alpha tester.Make Use of the Transportation AdministrationThe world of Montel is quite extensive and there is a lot to explore. One of your main goals should be to simply discover what this continent has to offer starting in the hometown of your chosen race. If you’re an avid player, you might be aware that traveling such a world by foot (or mount) can be quite tedious. Sometimes, you will want to go back to your hometown or travel to a very distant location.
The studio behind Black Gold Online came up with a way to help you in these situations. In many of the major cities, you will find representatives of the so called Transportation Administration, which allow you to hop on a flying machine or scaly dragon to bring you to your desired location for a few pieces of in-game gold.Experience PvP Battles in Blood Fang CitadelMake sure to hop on your mount and visit the Blood Fang Citadel to experience some heated PvP action. On this battlefield, it is important to capture valuable key points and achieve victory. Pressing "Y" will open the battlefield interface and give you a chance to more efficiently strategize. You can also travel to the arena and challenge other players in 1v1, 2v2 or 5v5 fights.Black Gold Online also features several PvE adventures, for all those adventurous spirits out there. As an alpha tester, you should make sure to check out Trial of the Brave to acquire nifty loot and experience points. In the Lion’s Den, you will act as a spy to the opposing faction and try to gather important information.Visit the Valor Quartermaster who will either give you breeding manuals or blueprints (depending on your faction), which will allow you to develop your own vehicles and mounts. The higher your rank, the more powerful and specialized your vehicles will be. The good thing about being an alpha tester is that you will receive large numbers of iron, copper and silver badges to build as many vehicles as you possibly can.Once you reach level 30, you will be able to participate in the challenging Guild vs Guild competition of energy wells. Find and join a guild by pressing "G". Many energy wells are scattered throughout Montel, and guilds can take control over those. It is up to your guild to defend their reign over one of these precious wells, which reward players and guilds with buffs and other benefits.
