Weak Spot Guide: Object 704 - World of Tanks Guru

The tier 9 Russian tank destroyer Object 704 has a tricky armor scheme that relies on a bit of luck and poor shot placement to deflect incoming rounds.  Against most tier 8 and tier 9/10 tanks the Object 704’s armor is not strong enough frontally to stop aimed shots on much of its frontal armor.  Against tier 7 tanks its armor stands up well against standard rounds.  The Object 704’s armor strength is located on the gun mantlet, around the gun mantlet, and also false spaced armor plates.

This guide is for World of Tanks Object 704 weak spots and it will break down the Object 704 tank destroyer into sections based on effective armor values.  Green areas are the weakest armor locations on the Object 704, yellow is moderate armor, and red is the strongest armor on the Object 704.  Purple areas are areas where you have a high chance of a zero-damage critical hit, will only do track damage, or places where there is no hull armor behind it to cause HP damage.

Object 704 Frontal Weak Spots

Object704_Frontal2

Frontally the Object 704 poses no serious threat against a well placed shot from most of the tanks that the Object 704 usually faces.  The gun mantlet is very large and well protected aside from a small box around the gun that has no additional armor located behind it.  Outside of this small zone the rest of the gun mantlet is immune to just about any shot thrown at it.  Moving outside of the mantlet you find very thick armor mounted on the hull’s upper glacis that surprisingly goes up to 320mm in thickness.  This area causes many bounces since players will often see their shots wander into this area accidentally and the result usually is a deflection.  Otherwise the only other “strong” area on the front is the highly angled sections on the outer edges of the Object 704 and the false spaced armor plates that have no hull armor behind them above the tracks.

Knowing where the strongest armor is you should focus on the upper glacis in most tanks you see the Object 704 in since it is large and still fairly weak at 183mm effective armor.  The lower glacis is slightly weaker at 174mm effective armor but at close ranges it becomes much stronger due to its proximity to the ground.

Object 704 Side Weak Spots

Object704_Side

The side of the Object 704 doesn’t have the tricks that the frontal profile has and the result is very weak and easy to damage armor.  Avoid the purple areas and you will have no difficulty damaging the Object 704’s side armor unless you use HEAT rounds against the tracks/spaced armor sections.

Object 704 Rear Weak Spots

Object704_Rear

Like the side armor the rear armor on the Object 704 is also very weak.  The main thing to remember is to avoid any purple areas since there is no hull armor behind these locations to cause HP damage.  Outside of this you have two small red areas that are at an auto-bounce angle but they are very unlikely to be hit unless you intentionally aim at them.
