Matilda - British Tier IV Medium Tank
The Matilda is a British tank that was developed between 1936 and 1938. Nearly 3,000 vehicles were built up to 1943. It's distinction: it is the only English tank that served throughout World War II. This is the tank that will allow you to get the first heavy tank of the English branch: the Churchill I. Classified as a medium, Matilda is not far from being a heavy tank. In fact, its thick armour and high number of hit points make it a particularly resistant and capable tank, as much on the front line as in defense near your SPG. However, your speed, totally ridiculous, is your huge weakness. You likely to end up screaming at your screen: "Come on! Advance! For god's sake move!"

It won't take long for you to realize the main handicap of your assault tank: you are slow, painfully slow. Because of this, you will not always be able to be at the confrontation on the front line. Remember that you are an excellent defender. Your cleverest opponents know they have to use their speed to counter you. But you have what you need to counter them, take care not to let them get around you, and the speed of your turret should help you to punish unruly players trying to outflank you.
Personally, I think its lack of speed means that this tank is underestimated, and difficult to play well. You will have to manage your positioning well and take on the task of countering enemy invasions. Don't forget to put yourself at a 30° angle to the opposition, rather than face to face. That way he will find it more difficult to penetrate your armor.
In conclusion, with its armour, incredible accuracy, a crazy firing rate, favorable matchups and excellent penetration, Matilda - once upgrade - is a real terror on the battlefield.
You're very solid for a Tier IV
The guns can really penetrate the enemy team well and you will be able to pierce the armour of many tanks, even those of a higher tier.
The firing rate is totally crazy, especially on the QF 2 guns.
The different guns are very accurate.
Can you get a slower tank, seriously?
As well as being slow, you are a bit big, fat... so difficult to handle and easy for the enemy SPGs to focus on.
Your dammage is quite weak (50 on average with the QF 2, 135 with the QQF 3)
Buying Order
I recommend that you buy the engine directly, which costs only 310?. After two games its paid for. Afterwards it is up to you. I think it is essential to evolve the radio to make the most of the Matilda's firepower. Coupled with the QF 2-pdr Mk. X-B gun, you can, despite the low damage, do a lot of damage if your fire rate and accuracy are good.
Radios
• WS No. 9 / This was already available on the previous tank. I suggest you don't buy the third to that you can buy the fourth as soon as possible.
• WS No. 19 Mk. II / The best radio available for this tank. Rather expensive, it is nevertheless necessary if you want to take full advantage of the capabilities your tank has to be accurate, even at long distances.
Gun
• OQF 3-inch Howitzer Mk. I / I recommend this gun for Matilda. Although damage it does is not very high, the rate of fire completely mad and you will be able to harras your targets a lot. A must have for the Matilda in my opinion. I would not recommend another gun because its trajectory (in a bell) makes the travel time of your shells terribly slow.
Engine
• 2x Leyland E164 / It will be 16 Hp. It's not much, but the price is so low that the acquisition of this object can be done quickly.
